I met this english guy yesterday called Mike (forgot his surname) who's training PIA on the new ATR's. His tenure is ending in a few days and he'll be replaced in a few days by another guy from the UK and he'll return in Jan '07. We met in a different context so hence I didn't get the chance to talk to him at length about the a/c but he did say that the only reason PIA is having issues with this a/c is because they're handling and maintaining it as if it were a Fokker. There are different maintenance procedures for this a/c which are not being followed to the letter and as most of the best people have bailed out to the gulf carriers, there is quite a brain drain in the engineering dept.
As for the color scheme as shown in this pic, that urdu PIA would look much better if it were in place of where the Pakistani flag is. That way the english and urdu PIA logos can be the same size and at the same height on the fuselage and the flag can be relocated elsewhere.
