Is PIA operating Lahore - New York direct?
Very short question. Is the LR operating non-stop Lahore-New York sector? The last I had heard was that the US had security objections restricting flights from Lahore. I heard from someone they are operating right now, just wanna make sure. Thanks

Direct flights ?
At the moment there are no direct flights between PAK - US - PAK.
There are no plans to operate such a route until US TSA gives clearance.
All flights are still subject to transiting via MAN with strict security checks still in place for ALL passengers.

Because unlike Pakistan which has its head stuck so far up where the sun doesn't shine, the governments of UAE have coordinated security with the FAA...thus allowing direct flights.Imran Hassan wrote:What I don't understand is how come Emirates and Etihad get to fly non-stop???
People in Pakistani government believe they are above everyone else and don't have to go through security clearance in Pakistan..and this is why the FAA doesn't allow PK to fly nonstop.....however, USA-Pakistan direct is allowed.
Also, there have been pilot shortages/problems regarding adding another nonstop flight.
Once (if) these problems are solved, PK can start direct Pakistan-USA flights...which would be great!!

Thanx for the replies guys, I heard this in reference to a travel agent and that's the reason why I asked. Had it been anyone else I would have dismissed it out of hand. Certainly the resumption of these flights will create enough buzz for mulitiple threads which will make everyone get to know about it.
About the security at Lahore, I haven't been through Lahore since the new airport opened. But I do wonder why would the security be any different in Lahore than say Karachi, not to mention US officials have no objection to Karachi. I have to agree with Jacobin as to the general attitude of Pakistani govt officials, hope things get sorted out soon.
