Passengers take over PIA plane

Post by Abbas Ali »

LAHORE: The passengers of PIA flight PK-220 kept possession of the plane for seven hours and denied disembarking over the issue of landing at Islamabad Airport. PK-220 which was bound for Peshawar from Abu Dhabi, because of bad weather in Peshawar, the plane had to land at the Islamabad airport at 7am. The passengers were persuaded to come down from the plane on the plea that that they will have to reach Peshawar by bus. At this, the passengers refused to disembark. The whole incident started when a PIA official threatened the passengers by calling them hijackers. Following this, few passengers stormed the plane crew. After long negotiations and due to PIA authorities’ apology, the passengers agreed to leave the plane.

Why angry sir. I think the passengers were in their full right to do what they did.... If the wx was bad at PEW, PIA should have lodged them in hotel and transported them by air to destination whenever the wx gets better. How would you like to be dropped enroute due to bad wx at destination and told to travel by bus... when u have paid for the air journey.....or else PIA should refund the cost of ticket equivalent to ISB-PEW fare.....

I agree with TailWind! PIA should have done a better job handling these passengers, to make things worse some idiot official called them hijackers? How would you feel if you paid $$$ to rent a lincoln town car, go to hertz counter and they offer you a bicycle and if you complain they call you a terrorist? Sounds funny but not much different than what happend on that particular flight....

Totally agree with Tailwind... the customer is always right. In this case they have paid for their ticket, they should have been taken care of. Customer Care it seems is a commodity in short-supply.

Sorry samee, if I was in the same position. I would demand the airline sorted out a connecting flight to the destination I paid for. I, like many would not like to be dropped half way and told to make my own way.

PIA should have arranged at least hotels and accommadation until a flight to PEW could be arranged. PIA has countless aircraft that are parked around ISB or KHI they can surely get one of them or wait until the weather reports improve in Peshawar before continuing the flight from ISB.
