LAHORE, Aug 4 (APP): Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) in pursuance of its mission to add new markets through participation in global alliances, has entered into Code Share Agreement with Aerosvit Airlines of Ukraine.
This arrangement will allow its valued customers to travel four days a week between Karachi and Kiev with effect from September 1 this year.
PIA and Aerosvit will code share on flights between Karachi and Kiev, the capital of Ukraine. PIA will be operating between Karachi and Dubai with Aerosvit as the participating carrier, while PIA will be the participating carrier on Aerosvit operated flights between Dubai and Kiev.
Passengers will travel under PIA documents, on PIA flights numbers, from Karachi to Kiev and back, with change of planes at Dubai, says a PIA release.
By adding Kiev on PIA network, the national carrier will provide access to markets in Ukraine and other countries in Eastern Europe.
It may be recalled that PIA entered into first ever code share agreement with Turkish airlines on flights between Pakistan and Turkey.
PIA now offers five weekly flights to Istanbul, four from Karachi and one from Islamabad.
Flights from Islamabad will be enhanced to three, so as to provide a daily link between Pakistan and Turkey.

This move will probably have a minimum effect, and would probably help the Ukrainian airline counter Emirates which was the only airline flying between Kiev and Karachi.
Not a huge impact, but probably a few passengers per flight.
That is if Emirates is even flying between Kiev and Dubai.
