Salaam everyone,
Read about this on another forum and a start date of 25th July was mentioned. Seems so soon, wonder if there is any truth behind it?
Are PIA looking to add another UK destination?

Yes, Gatwick would be much better - obviously subject to slots.
I suppose it depends on who PIA is trying to attract to use this proposed service: there is little by way of connecting flights from Stansted, so presumably the target will be those just going to and from the UK - or more specifically the East End of London and Essex.
With Gatwick there would at least be connecting flights to the USA: Continental to Newark and Houston, Delta to Cincinnati and Atlanta, USAir to Philadelphia, and NorthWest to Minneapolis and Detroit.
If introducing new flights to a London airport - would it not be better to offer an overnight service to London and a daytime flight back to Pakistan? For example, depart Karachi 02h30 arrive 06h45, depart 10h00 arrive Karachi 21h45? Just an idea......
The slots 'issue' at LHR and LGW always puzzles me: If Emirates and Qatar Airways want extra slots they get them just like that, Air New Zealand recently got an extra daily slot at LHR for it's new double daily AKL service, and there are other examples. It would be good if PIA could get an additional 4 slots per week at LHR to offer a double daily Pakistan/London service, and if they pushed the UK CAA hard enough then they might get lucky. Failing that, Musharraf should get on the blower to B-Liar (sorry, Mr Blair!!).

its not the slots issue but the bilaterals problem between PAK & UK which permits PAK carriers to fly only upto 10 weekly flights to LHR/LGW combined. Getting night time slots at LHR and LGW is not a big problem...the issue is bilateral capacity. The slots 'issue' at LHR and LGW always puzzles me: If Emirates and Qatar Airways want extra slots they get them just like that, Air New Zealand recently got an extra daily slot at LHR for it's new double daily AKL service, and there are other examples. what i can say is that pia looking forward to provide better service to easten side of uk and trying to offer wide range of flight from uk only as manchester and london heathrow is doing well for trans atlantic connections.
i think pia looking forward to pull out its 747's from uk specially from lhr soon once these flights start and load will be divided b/w two airport. LGW is not good for pia pax's
