Dearest Moiz!
While we all the rest of us still can't grasp the fact that such a tragic loss has occured, we know we can't even imagine what you and your family is going through. May your father and others rest in peace and be blessed along with Jannah.
I can't imagine the extent of your anger, inexpressable in words you must be feeling, knowing all you know and on top of all this the blatant incompetence of those who head this institution. People like Tariq Kirmani IMO don't deserve to be free let alone be the head of an organisation like this. While nothing can compensate the loss that you have to bear for the rest of your lives on top of the lives cut so tragically short, I pray that Allah gives you, your family and those of others, the strength to overcome this and lead a successful and happy life. And finally I hope those responsible be exposes and brought to justice. Amen!
Inna lillahay wa inna ilahay rageon.
(I think its relavant to state the meaning of this, it translates ROUGHLY to the fact that 'we too will have to return to Him')

Dear Moiz,
I dont know u but i have met your dad lot of times, unfortunately i never had a chance to fly with him, I dont work for PIA anymore. He was a very good man and a very good professional. PIA has lost a very good pilot.
Please dont take it negative but stop expecting anything from the management.............They are self-less peoples in the management......
I have seen alot in PIA......its not only Tariq Kirmani but its the whole PIA. i served in PIA was 15 years and i stop expecting from anyone........ they will forget about this accident after 15 days.
Please now its your responsibility to look after your family and carry on with your life. May Allah be with u.

Dear Moiz,
I felt like my heart falling from the sky when my friend told me that one of my former professors had died in a PIA air crash. My father operates the 747 with PIA, and I am too very frustrated with the maintainence at PIA. I was stunned for a moment upon hearing the news and anxieous to know what aircraft it was. I had no idea where and what flight my father was operating. I was in a different country. My impatience grew. I was terrified to death. I never wish these kind of moments on anyone. This is only a test and God tests us for our stead-fastness. May Captain Hamid and all the 45 lives on board the aircraft rest in piece and may Allah grant them an exalted status in His heaven.
Ameen.
No one deserves to under go such torment.

what do you know about maintenance, other than your dad discuss it at home, and what does your dad know about maintenance?????????My father operates the 747 with PIA, and I am too very frustrated with the maintainence at PIA.
maintenance kept those fokkers flying till today, not you neither your dad.
your dad will NOT accept the aircraft till the time he is million & ten % sure he wont go down. Understand.
Be careful before you choose your words

On asking many seasoned captains who flew the F27 for many many years.. i came to the same conclusion. The aircraft age is irrelevant, as with age maintenance practices get stricter and aircraft limitations are revised to counter performance deterioration. Most accidents are a sequence of events... this could range from work stress, family problems to just training deficiencies ( for both Pilots & Engineers). No engineer would deliberately ignore a flaw niether does a pilot fly an aircraft that he knows may go down. The idea is to decode this sequence of errors and execute preventive measures.

Dear Full Thrust,
I dont know about you but i know how things work in the airline, i have worked in PIA for 15 years.......... Only word that Engineers know is CF as per MEL........... They would put high speed tape on the engine cowling to keep it running............... I did not want to say anything but reading your reply it seems that u should know the reality of PIA engineering........All the good guys have left PIA and now working for other airlines and now PIA is left with bunch of immature technicians............
I can write a complete book on Engineers, they were good guys but they all left..........Now i work for foreign airline and we get handling from PIA in pakistan and believe me the same engineer who would refuse to work on PIA aircraft, cannot say NO to even to our cabin crew.
Our engineer were only interested to somehow aircraft keep flying and there is no technical snag and if there is they will try to cover it up.....
And even in fokker accident i am 101 percent sure that there was a technical snag and which engineering department will try to cover it up.....
Just to update u there was an incident of A310 in PIA.....engine flame out......because the engineers had put the fuel x-feed in reverse position. The indication will say its in closed position but it was in open position.... And guess what who suffered...... the captain was demoted and nothing happened to the engineers............. so my dear Friend there are lot of stories about them and there negligence which has caused loss to the Airline and the country........

Dear trikko,
you should throw the MEL out of the aircraft
NO it was not the x-feed valve, it was outer tank isolation valve, and for your information, it was not installed in reverse position, it CANNOT be installed in opposite position because it is FOOLPROOF, and the Capt. was demoted (I am not too sure whether he was demoted or not) very rightly because in a situation when the fuel is being fed into the engine from outer tanks, and the isol valve failed to open, the Capt. should have opened the crossfeed valve in order to feed the starving engine. and he failed to do so, and that too on short finals, and on top of it, it was not in pakistan, where it could be done hush hush very easily.
By the way when did you leave pia and where are you writing flight logs now?
that means you never sat on left seat.......shows your inexperience of handling the aircraft. just RT and paper work!!!!!!!I dont know about you but i know how things work in the airline, i have worked in PIA for 15 years
till the time you were in pia, why did your captains accept the aircraft with MEL covered defects.........even you did not have the power to accept/refuse the aircraft.Only word that Engineers know is CF as per MEL
you should throw the MEL out of the aircraft
=D> =D>u should know the reality of PIA engineering
you can only write the flight logI can write a complete book on Engineers
you are only showing pakistani mentality hereNow i work for foreign airline and we get handling from PIA in pakistan and believe me the same engineer who would refuse to work on PIA aircraft, cannot say NO to even to our cabin crew.
shows how powerful engineers are......just kiddingJust to update u there was an incident of A310 in PIA.....engine flame out......because the engineers had put the fuel x-feed in reverse position. Dear Ramiz, I was replying to trikko, who was in an impression that engineers always CF the defect, everybody knows, MEL is a tool which is designed to keep the aircraft (commercially) flying, and I tell you the MMEL is defined by the MANUFACTURER, and there is no such item defined in it which is a risk factor for the airworthiness of an aircraft. MEL is then written by the individual airline/operator, which is one step over and above the MMEL.Ramiz Abid Mirza wrote:Dear FULLTHRUST....
where did u get this information from that the FO only do the RT and the paper work???.wats wrong in taking an A/C wid a CF deffect, then why the hell is MEL for??...
So if you dont have the spares, and resources to rectify the snags, or the planning to keep that aircraft in service due to other aircraft maintenance, engineers are left behind only with one excuse, and that is MEL cover.
There are instances, where engineers use that facility, where the operating capt. feels that it should have been rectified. Once again, you will find evry kind of people in every department, generally speaking, everywhere in the world. PIA is no different.
