Did you take non stop flight from JFK? I took that flight last May (2005) to Karachi (JFK-DXB-KHI). It was just horrible. We had our 4 month old with us so may be we were a bit stressed out already but I didn't like their A340 configuration at all. They can do without that 500 channel super fantastic entertainment system. It takes just too much space underneath your seat that leaves little leg room. For a 14 hour non stop flight I was expecting more comfortable flight specially from Emirates. The service was pretty pathetic as well on this flight and the return as well.
I have taken Emirates many times before, but we always fly from ORD via American Airlines to LHR, and then Emirates 777 to DXB and then onwards to KHI. Emirates 777 are much better and more comfortable rides then A340. Only problem with this flight combination is too many connections which drives me crazy, specially Dubai airport! I hate getting off at Dubai, walk 5000 miles, go through security all over again, go down and then up and left and then right to get to my next gate!Argh....

I must admit, I am a boeing man, dont really like airbus
I flew from LHR-DXB-ISB
a330-200 lhr - dxb
777-200 dxb - isb
777-200 isb - dxb
777 - 300 dxb - lhr
i found the 777s very comfortable, my experiance was a bit different, i found the ek staff very helpful. The only staff i found unhelpful was the Ek staff at ISB.
i have also flew with airblue from isb - dxb one way which cost me 15,000 rupees. (expensive, however was bought last minute) the actual aircraft was ATLASJET.
the only reason i fly sometimes with ek is because I have to through work
no matter how good Emirates is I prefer to fly with
PAKISTAN INTERNATIONAL AIRLINES

in July 2004, I flew SFO-JFK-DXB-KHI with SFO-JFK on AA and the rest on EK..unfortunately I flew cattle class, and I have to say, out of my 20 trips I've taken with EK, this was one of the most uncomfortable flights ever..DSM wrote:Did you take non stop flight from JFK? Now I just fly EK DXB-KHI-DXB....and the rest on AA/BA...much easier...

Hmm!! Quite confused as I was hoping for a great trip as I have heard a lot about Emirates. Now I don't know what to expect!!!
The real reason from my trip is to fly one last time bewteen ISB-LHE on the F-27. I remember my first trip between Pindi and Peshawar, the Indus looking like a huge muddy snake (Tarbela had not been built) and the neat line of F-86's parked on the apron as we disembarked at the terminal.
I also witnessed the arrival of the CinC RAF sometime later. He arrived in an RAF Comet.
I presume that was the only time one ever came to Peshawar.

Whenever I took Emirates from LHR, I had a very pleasant experiance. Just this time when we took non stop service from JFK, I was really disappointed.
Only time I took PIA to go to Pakistan was back in 1992 and that was a horrible nightmare. I never found the courage to give this airline another shot ever since

ive flown EK to n from LHR many times....travelled on the 330s from KHI - DXB n bak, n the 773s from LHR - DXB - LHR!
to be very honest, their 773s are dreadful...along with the 772s...
they have 10 abreast, n it all gets too squashy...not a comfortable ride at all...
but to compensate for that, they have excellent service!!
thier 330 have the normal 8 abreast....which makes them a lot more comfortable...
hopefully their 9abreast dreamliners will be better!!

I got to the check-in counter at LHR and was received with all smiles and a friendly 'I'll see what i can do' when I requested an aisle seat.
The next remark hit me like a thunderbolt..''Sorry Sir, but you will not be going anywhere today as your passport expired a week ago!!!'
I cannot believe I overlooked something so important.
All in all, It has been a helluva day. Got my passport renewed and I now travel on Sunday. Oh, and my bag also split on the way back from Heathrow

I am now sunning myself in Lahore and will provide a detailed trip report on my return.
Off to ISB on Wed on the trusty F-27 armed with a camera to record all aspects of the trip.
Emirates crew and service was fantastic, the A-330 was awfully cramped and uncomfortable and I walked around in the cabin with a permanent stoop!! Even the crew were complaining about the 330 galley area
The 777 beats it hands down for comfort, cabin noise and space. The flight to Lahore was a sheer joy.
More later...
