PK783 delayed by 18 hours! Why?

Usalamulkium,

I was just watching GEO News and at the bottom screen it said in Urdu that PK783 from Karachi to Toronto was delayed by 18 hours. Just wondering does anybody know why?

Damnit!

I just checked PIA's website and it departed at 2230 local last night. Also...wait for it...re-routed via manchester.

I'm pissed cuz I'm taking PK783 next sunday and was pretty excited cuz it was DIRECT. Looks like PIA's got another JFK situation on there hands.

I'm not sure if that's the case.... it could just be a problem with BGY... although I would be a little concerned about that! PIA has been doing the non-stop to YYZ for quite a few weeks now unlike JFK.... and so far its been rather uneventful.

You're right! I guess I got a little ahead of myself. Just got off the phone with PIA Reservations and they told me it was a Technical problem, and they had to take a 74M instead yesterday, hence the stopover in Manchester.

Nope its not a 74M. It is BGZ.

I guess the MAN stop is a pilot issue.

Dang!! Now I wish it could've made it on Sunday. I was at YYZ for a while and could've snapped a few shots!

i was there on sunday but no plane showed up....the T3 info center told me that it is arriving at 9am monday

The delay in flight was due to Flight operations department big goof up they have planned the flights with minimum legal rest of cockpit crew there was no crew available to fly long range flight with minimum legal rest there for they delayed the flight to give the crew the minimum legal rest. As per ANO CAA Pakistan

PIA requires a Minimum of 72 sets of pilots to fly only Ultra long range flights but I think they don't have that number of crew sets on 777 and they have other flights also.

Yeah, I checked before I left and was surprised to see a 9:00 am arrival... don't think I've ever seen that long a delay with PIA!!
I shall try another day.

So what is the situation now. No direct filghts to US due to US not allowing them and no direct flights to Pakistan due to lack of Pilots.
