Upgrades ?

Post by SENIOR »

All the interior wall panels have been replaced with new light grey ones as in the b772. All chromes fixtures have been given the 'brasso' treatment including the toilet pans nd sinks - and that accrid smells gone from the rear toilets.
The floor of the main-deck cargo area has been given a lick of paint too and looks much better ie you can see the floor with all the markings now.
Door handles either have been replaced or given a severe 'brasso' mirror like effect even the stairwell bannister has been brought back to life.
However, like I said, its just a shroud and gives a false impression of whats underneath. Its like your granny with really bad make-up on.
The crew were complaining - 'whats the point half the galley services are in-op ie the fridge/heating water/intercom system doesn't even work !! '
Sorry to be blunt but this granny is way past her bedtime.

Thanks to Senior for providing info on AP-BAK in this thread.

I apologise for the quality of these pics, I know they're a bit noisey, but the thing is I had my point and shoot digi cam so tried my best. Here are 3 shots I took of the delayed aircraft.

hydraulic leak

Post by SENIOR »

The hydraulic leak was finally fixed approx 14hrs later after std 1210lt.
The entire control box which controls the braking system on the left handside of the landing gear was replaced nd sourced locally from another airline after lengthy negotiations.
Basically the old control box's structure had completely failed beyond repair.
The flt departed finally, almost 24hrs late this morning.

I think both AP-BAK and AP-BAT should be converted to full passenger layout, around 385 passergers, and should be exclusively used for domestic and Saudi routes.

Using these planes on 8 hour flights (U.K) or 16 hour flights (North America) should not be an option.

Its bad press when a flight is delayed for 24 hours due to technical reasons.

The combis are old planes and should be kept near home base.

as evident from the nature of the technical fault it was a maintenance oversight, nothing to do with the aircrafts structure or mechanical make up. combis operate at an above 90 percent puntcualty rate higher then the much younger 747s and 310s, it just so happens that these delays hit the news because they fly to high profile sectors like jfk,lhr,man...!!
