Forget A New Livery

Post by Amaad Lone »

Hello everyone

I am sorry but against popular sentiment, but I belive PIA should leave the current flag livery, as ugly as it might be, and spend that budget on refurbishing and upgrading the airline cabins and toilets.

PIA bathrooms are the most basic I have ever seen in any airline, and should be upgraded.

How many passengers actually think about the airline livery, think about it this airline fan club only has around 300 members, while PIA carries over six million passengers a year.

PIA would spend a huge amount of money on repainting recently painted aircraft, a task that already took two years to just complete.

PIA should forget this repainting venture for atleast another five to six years, at which point the entire fleet can be repainted to a brandnew color scheme, maybe at the time of A310 replacement.

Mr.Kirmani upgrade the cabins, something that really effects the passengers, and is good for business.

Well, I believe that the livery is part of an airlines comprehensive marketing strategy.

Anyway, I also don't like the fact that people still want to send suggestions to PIA management, even as the new livery (with cultural tiles scheme) has already been introduced. The livery is not there to be changed everyday and backed by popular demand the livery has been modified. Now, people need to live with this new cultural tail scheme. The airline cannot keep changing liveries every couple of years. That's bad marketing!

Really, maybe in the west, not Pakistani travelers. PIA travel is solidly based on labor in the Middle East and ethnic travel from North America and Europe, people who would fly PIA even if the aircraft was painted in all black.

Most Pakistanis don't even know which plane they are flying on.

I am a regular traveler, and livery is not a priority for me.

1. Flight Dates
2. Flight Frequency
3. Ticket Price
4. Flight Timings
5. In flight service
6. Type of aircraft

Don't see airline livery in my top 6 reasons to fly an airline.

All I am saying is that PIA has limited money and it should be spent on place where it is needed the most, upgraded cabins.

The reason why teh livery is an issue is becaue Pakistani sub-standardness is crept into that domain of teh airlien as well, even in teh west nobody really cares about teh livery but the company wants to look good, and in teh servic eindustry image and product go hand in hand.

If PIA adopt this simple solution and I wont complain about the livery again.

I would pay for the livery change if it gets coyboy to stop complaining.

I won't argue that.... but on the same note PIA doesn't need to market its services as much to this customer base, they would fly the airline regardless. So perhaps PIA's marketing is not aimed at them and instead at customers that do notice the livery and who are aware of what aircraft they are flying on.

I think if PIA is to become a world-class airline... it needs to continually market itself to potential future customers and maintaining an image through its livery is one way of doing so. Although my regular travels are on North American airlines and I won't refuse to fly a particular one because of its colours.... I definitely regard the livery as being an integral part of an airline's image.

I will agree with you that PIA is wasting too much money by re-painting its aircraft every two years, money that is better spent on other things. They should apply the new colours and keep them for sometime (min. 5 yrs).

All previous schemes have been kept for a minimum of 10 years with a few tweeks here and there....it shows that this livery is so pathetic that they are having to keep changing it every year...

As they ordered these aircraft directly from Boeing they should have asked them to come up with a new livery or maybe asked Negus and Negus ( if they are still around ) to design a new livery. N&N designed both the 90s and 80s livery which everyone loved. Boeing has come up with some really great liveries lately (ie. Dreamliner and the B773ER livery) surely they could have developed something to suit PIA.

I havnt seen the latest livery on a real aircraft but from just looking at the renders and descriptions it looks like the livery is going to go from bad to worse !!
