What happened to the news about fleet expansion?
The people in forrum were tellung about more 777-200LRs or A330s or some regional jets.

A330's were for Hajj.

ATR42-500 are coming next year.

There are some 777's coming in 2012 but there is speculation on what type

I dont believe the A330 is coming. How ever Air Universal is getting another ex-Lufthansa machine out of the desert soon to join the operation.

The confirmed order for 777LR is there and deleivery is scheduled in Jan & Feb'06. A330 tender has been given but results are still awaiting. I dont think those 330s are for Hajj operations because a training is being carried out for Pilots of 330 soon after they get it. Yes, some of B742 are going to join the fleet of PIA for the period of I think 2 months for Hajj operations.

I think raza meant more orders for 772LR. I don't believe PIA will do that right now.

A330 leasing is so hard right now. There are almost none in the market. The ones which we saw in a picture posted by a forum member are maybe not available as it might be there reason that the airline who owns it got into financial issues that they cant even lease. So yea the A330 is really hard. If there were some ED wudve got its hands on it like crazii

Pictures of A330 which were posted by some forum member was I think for sale because the photographer had given the comments like "Waiting for the new Owner!"

But may be you are right regarding the availability of A330 these days.

at the moment PIA has leased around 3 or 4 737-2/300's to cope with the domestic market since the A310's have been diverted for the hajj operations as well...
the A330's are on their way..from what carier..i do not know...but i'll update you with whatever info i get...
and ofcourse the ATR's and the 777 family is but old news..

Atleast now it can be seen A330 are coming. Do you mind telling what is the status of the tender which PIA placed a month before or so? Never mind if you dont know but keep us informed as soon as you get any info.
