" Some 235 flights carrying relief goods from various countries and donor agencies have so far arrived at the Islamabad airport. CAA spokesman Pervez George said that only five of the total 57 flights were diverted to different airports mainly owing to bad weather "
Im lost, can somebody please clarify this report.
Does it mean 235 flights came, 57 of which were diverted to other airports, but 5 were diverted due to weather. ?

CAA handles 465 landings of international relief flights since Oct 9
ISLAMABAD, Oct 25 (APP): The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has efficiently handled 465 landings of international relief flights at the Islamabad Airport since Oct 9, the day after a devastating earthquake hit the northern parts of the country, said a senior officer of CAA.
Out of these flights the CAA facilitated parking and unloaded services to the 185 relief flights at Islamabad International airport while the Armed Forces handled 279 relief flights at Chaklala Air Base, said Regional Director (North) CAA Brig (R) Pervez Bashir Nawaz Khan.
Briefing newsmen regarding the operations of relief as well as scheduled flights at the airport in the aftermath of earthquake, he said, though it was a challenging task but the men and officers of the CAA carried out their responsibilities in an efficient manner.
He said these relief flights have brought in approximately 24,000 tonnes of relief and rescue items during the last 16 days.
He said the runway, which is simultaneously used by the CAA and armed forces, was in better shape despite such a continued heavy traffic load.
He said that the special flights for Ummra, those were to be diverted at an earlier stage, would now be reaching Islamabad according to their schedule.
Answering a question, the regional chief of CAA said, the authority had been providing facilities to the international relief flights free of charges. He said that if the CAA had charged them, it would have earned around Rs 70 million, and now this is an indirect contribution of CAA for the cause of quake victims.

Its really a time of appreciation for CAA staff specially those hard working ATCs who are involved in handling all those relief goods flights as well as scheduled flights.
ATCs are doing superb job and government must reward them by raising their pay scales as there was already demand of pay scale raise some while back.
