Virgin Atlantic to Islamabad (Boeing 747-400)

Well well well..

I just saw a Virgin 747-400 being loaded with relief goods for it's first flight to Islamabad, Pakistan. The aircraft will take off at 2100 (BST) and should reach Islamabad in the morning around 0430 (PST).

There you go, now it's your chance to take photographs of this beautiful 21st Birthday Girl. I believe the Reg No was G-VFAB.

Will Virgin ever consider the Isb route for passenger travel?

I doubt it. As long as we have Emirates flying to so many cities in Pakistan, Virgin would never fly to Pakistan. Plus it's name would keep it high profiled and less profitable (atleast in Pakistan)

Virgin Atlantic is operating a dedicated aid flight today to help those affected by the earthquake in Pakistan. Working with Save The Children and The Rotary Club, Virgin Atlantic will fly a Boeing 747-400 aircraft from London Gatwick to Islamabad, Pakistan with 55 tonnes of aid. Save The Children have supplied much-needed tents, tarpaulins and plastic sheeting and The Rotary Club have supplied Rotary Shelterboxes, which include a ten person tent, sleeping bags, water purification equipment, basic tools, lighting and kerosene fuelled cooking equipment. These supplies will provide vital shelter to many thousands of people left homeless by the earthquake on 8 October 2005. The flight will depart at 18:30 on 31 October arriving in Islamabad at 07.30 on 1 November 2005.

“I wish Virgin Atlantic, Virgin Unite, Save the Children and The Rotary Club my personal gratitude and thanks in flying to Pakistan with the 55 tonnes of aid which has been donated by the British public and other British companies to support the relief effort in the recent devastating earthquake in Pakistan. I am sorry that I'm not going to be there. Best wishes to everyone involved and good luck and please, please ensure the aid has got out to ground level as soon as possible which will help all the families who are experiencing difficulty at this time.”

No airline flies 744s to ISB, maybe only Saudi use them on rare one off services and British Airways flew them there in late 90's.

I thought you distinctly asked ONLY about 744's flying to ISB, as for SV's cargo flights, I think they are temporary, ISB is not a scheduled SV Cargo destination.
