According to most people, the population demographic of GLA reflects that a vast majority of immigrant Pakistanis from that city come from LHE and FAS...so why is there a one weekly ISB-DXB-GLA flight alongside a LHE-DXB-GLA flight when 2 weekly LHE-DXB-GLA would have been just fine :!:

Can someone please explain PIAs logic to me as it doesnt make any commercial/operational sense to me!!!

Why are the flights routed through Dubai??

That is like adding four hours extra for nothing.

A non-stop flight of eight hours, versus 3 hours to Dubai, 2 hours on ground then another 7 to Glasgow.

I would imagine with the number of Pakistanis in UK, filling an A310 twice a week from Glasgow should be no problem.

The major advantage of taking PIA to UK, versus Qatar or Emirates is the time factor, a non-stop flight versus one with a transit.

If PIA takes away that factor, then why would anyone fly PIA.

the ideal flight would have been LHE-GLA-LHE twice a week nonstop with A 310s plain and simple...it would have provided PIA with a huge competitive advantage compared to its Arab and European competitors on this route.

Lets see how good the 5th freedom traffic loads are for them in J & Y class on the DXB-GLA-DXB leg.

If PK really want to route thier flight via DXB why not increase to 4 weekly.

There is enough demand for PAK-DXB and growing demand between DXB-GLA.

But they should first have experimented with LHE-GLA, if the loads weren't good then route the flight via DXB

i personally would have thought they should have extended their Olso or CPH flights to GLA.

Twice a week on the A310 GLA-CPH-LHE would be better.

Weekly flights between Glasgow and both Islamabad and Lahore will take off next month, Pakistan International Airlines announced yesterday.

The services will operate via Dubai.

Is this sector viable? I'm sure PIA did some assesment before opening up this route but it doesn't seem like it would be a winner to me.

The IATA airport code for Faisalabad would be LYP not FAS, behramjee...

The flight is on the PIA website.

http://www.piac.com.pk/flight_planner/d ... 18:37%20PM

Give credit to PIA, make an 8 hour journey into a 12 hour 30 minutes one.

The same amount of fuel could have allowed PIA to operate the route thrice a week.

Maybe a better schedule would have been:

Lahore-Islamabad-Glasgow twice a week.

This way people going to Lahore or Islamabad would have had a twice weekly option.

The return flight to Lahore continues on to Karachi. Another waste of 1.5 hour of fuel.

Why could this plane not be taken back to Karachi as a dometic flight, instead of taking it there as a part of PK778, flying empty.

PIA must stop linking Karachi with Lahore and Islamabad on international flights.

Its a waste of expensive fuel when the planes fly 80% empty between Karachi, Islamabad and Lahore.

there is a saying in this world called "you learn from your mistakes" unfortunately our national airline doesnt recognize the importance of that concept.
