Would a A340 be good for PIA

Post by PIA330 »

As of now, our 777s are outdated as they need engine replacements and cabin refurbishments. Even A330s won't be good to get as of now, our 747s are only used for Hajj and some of our 777s are abandoned.

PIA will be Privatized on July, the winner could be YB Holdings or the 3rd bidder who will appear by surprise.

After Privatization, PIA will need about 10 to 15 news planes either by dry leasing or buying straight on Money. PIA should go for Lufthsana's A340s, that Lufthansa will retire by the end of October 2025.

Those A340s would be great for the UK Flights and American Flights.

The seats are so nice on that Lufthansa A340, Pakistani Diaspora spend so much money on Qatar and Emirates tickets to visit Pakistan. Then you see Pakistani Diaspora on TikTok always recording the conditions of PIA’s Economy and Business Class seats.

An A330 has problems, why not buy or lease a A340 from Lufthansa or a A350 from FinAir.

In my opinion, instead of buying planes and other things, PIA should renovate the cabins of its planes, the age of the planes does not matter if they are well maintained, we find various examples of old planes around the world such as Air France, British Airways and Delta, which despite the age of the planes offer products that are fabulous.

After Privatization they will renovate the Cabins of the A320s and B777s. They have to be refurbished to international standards.

A340s would've made sense 15 years ago when 4 engined aircraft were still a decent option not today. And it does not make sense to replace old 777s with another old aircraft which is inefficient with it's 4 engines. The seats can be nice on any aircraft. And there's nothing wrong with the a330, it's still the most sensible aircraft for PIA to choose going forward. Also, with all the delivery delays with boeing and airbus, why would lufthansa sell us their a340s? Many airlines are delaying their plans to retire their aircraft and even restoring some old aircraft by brining them back from retirement. And does PIA have enough money right now or even after privatisation there's no guarantee that PIA will be in a position to 'buy' aircrafts. Whichever aircraft joins the fleet, it'll be on dry lease.

Again, it's 2025 not 2015. The 747s have retired a long time ago and are resting in eternal peace

The Boeing 777-300ER is approved for Extended Twin-engine Operations (ETOPS) with a rating of up to 330 minutes (330-minute ETOPS), meaning it can fly up to 330 minutes away from an alternate airport with one engine inoperative.

This is what killed the A340.

PIA didn't acquired A340s then and gone for B777s, so how you expect that PIA will replace its B777s with the outdated machine A340s? and B747s are history, long ago got retired

i am looking at PIA's need for Boeing 787-8s and 787-9s for B777s replacement according to range/capacity and A321s along with existing fleet of A320s to extend range/capacity; and to go with this, PIA need a lot of money which can only be injected by the buyer, if privatization plan works this time :!:

That's a great option and they need to look at a A350 for B777s. They should induct a A321XLR, the buyer will have to inject new money into PIA to make sure it profitable. This Privatization Attempt is much better, as we have YB Holdings and Arif Habib as the current bidders still. The 3rd bidder will be participating to buy PIA, sources say they hold significant influence and they will come as a surprise.

It looks a little small, I have been obsessed how big the A340 is. Even Qatar Airways had a A340 with nice business class, but sadly retired them in 2019.

The XLRs are still new jets so they would either have to buy them from Airbus themselves which is long and expensive or buy a second hand one which would still be expensive and difficult to find
