PIA privatization gains momentum as major investors show interest

Post by PIA330 »

According to sources interested groups’ names include the Arif Habib Group, Taba Group, and YB Holdings. Key meetings have reportedly taken place in Islamabad among representatives of these groups to discuss the potential acquisition of PIA.

Sources indicate that, since the process for PIA privatization has gained momentum, the interested groups have expressed their willingness to proceed with the acquisition of Pakistan’s national airlines, provided their conditions are met.

Among these conditions is the demand that the government assumes responsibility for PIA’s outstanding liabilities, including billions owed to the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), Pakistan State Oil (PSO), and the aviation sector.

Additionally, it has been reported that the International Monetary Fund (IMF) has set a target for PIA privatization to be completed by July.

At least this time, the interested parties are not builders or real estate developers but finance groups and industrialists.

Let's see how it will go this time.

This 2nd Privatization attempt will go smooth, with no problems. Now that PIA flies to Europe and the UK Flights will start after Eid. This will make the Due Diligence Process much faster, as we may remember from the 1st attempt there was a huge delay due to the Due Diligence process. The bidders wanted to evaluate the European Flights, but sadly did not work.

The YB Holdings Consortium will be the same, But in the 1st attempt before the Privatization was supposed to be in October 1st, 2024. Arif Habib and AirBlue were suppose to form a consortium, we will likely see a Arif Habib Consortium in this 2nd Privatization Attempt.

This 2nd Privatization attempt wants a company that can run the Airports too along with PIA.

@PIA330 Thank you for the explanation.

Buying an airline replete with a myriad of issues and airports where even more management and political headaches exist.

Good luck to the bidders.
