Stray Animal on Islamabad Airport Airside Forces Emirates Boeing 777 Flight to Perform Go-Around Before Landing

On January 20, Emirates Boeing 777-300ER (aircraft registration A6-ENI) flight EK612 from Dubai performed a go-around before landing at Islamabad Airport due to presence of an animal on the airside of the airport.

Emirates flight EK612 on short finals to Islamabad Airport Runway 28L initiated go-around from altitude of 2,850 feet at 7:08 AM.

Later, flight EK612 landed safely on Islamabad Airport Runway 28L at 7:22 AM. The aircraft was cleared to land after thorough inspection of runway by Islamabad Airport personnel.

The presence of an animal that looked like a dog or jackal on the airside was reported to Islamabad Airport control tower by cockpit crew of British Airways (BA) Boeing 777-200ER (aircraft registration G-VIIP) flight BA2161 from London after landing. BA flight BA2161 landed on Islamabad Airport Runway 28L at 7:04 AM.
