Post by Abbas Ali »

On December 13, Aerostan Boeing 747-200F cargo aircraft built in 1991 and registered in Kyrgyzstan as EX-47004 performing flight BSC816 to Riyadh returned to Karachi after takeoff due to problem with one of its engines caused by bird hit/ingestion. The affected engine was shut down by the cockpit crew. The aircraft is powered by four General Electric CF6 engines.

The aircraft flew holding pattern to dump/burn fuel and reduce weight before landing safely at Karachi Airport.

The aircraft departed from Karachi Airport Runway 07R at 4:36 PM. Maximum altitude attained by the aircraft 3,000 feet. For about 23 minutes from 4:49 PM to 5:12 PM it flew holding pattern at an altitude of 2,900 feet to dump/burn fuel and reduce weight. It landed safely with the power of three engines on Karachi Airport Runway 07R at 5:25 PM i.e 49 minutes after takeoff
