Government of Punjab has decided to hire modern planes for its Rescue 1122 Air Ambulance Service as it awarded contract to Karachi-based Sky Wings.

Three companies had expressed interest and Sky Wings from Karachi successfully secured the tender for the Air Ambulance Service on April 1.

Two Piper aircraft will be used for the air ambulance service. One of the aircraft will be procured from South Africa, while the other will be sourced from the United States.

Training for the staff has already commenced to ensure efficient operations of the air ambulance service.

It’s worth noting that Sky Wings has previously been associated with Edhi Air Ambulance Service in Sindh.

An injured constable of Punjab Police shifted to Government of Punjab Rescue 1122 Air Ambulance Service Piper PA-34-200T Seneca II (aircraft registration AP-BFM) at Sheikh Zayed International Airport - Rahim Yar Khan for air transportation to Lahore for medical treatment on August 25. The policeman was injured in an ambush on police vans by riverine bandits in Kacha area of Machka in Rahim Yar Khan on August 22.
