Fire Suspends International Flight Operations at Lahore Airport

International flight operations suspended at Lahore Airport for 5 hours from 10:30 AM to 3:30 PM due to unavailability of immigration system at the airport caused by fire/short circuit. The fire has been extinguished by firefighters.



Lahore Airport remains open for domestic and cargo flights.



The fire began in ceiling area of immigration counters around 5:25 AM and filled airport lounge with smoke.



Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) issued:

May 9, 2024, from 10:30 AM to 3:30 PM

Lahore Airport not available for international operations due to unserviceability of immigration management system.

Lahore Airport remains available for domestic and cargo operations.

Apparently, PIA Boeing 777-300ER aircraft registration AP-BMS flight PK717 was the last flight to leave Lahore Airport before the suspension of international flight operations at the airport. PK717 left Lahore at 10:32 AM.

Qatar Airways Boeing 777-300ER aircraft registration A7-BEH left Lahore at 10:24 AM as ferry flight QR629 to Doha without passengers. The flight was scheduled to leave Lahore at 9:55 AM. The aircraft had arrived in Lahore at 7:54 AM as flight QR628 from Doha.

airblue Airbus A321 aircraft registration AP-BMW flight PA417 from Dubai to Lahore was diverted to Islamabad where it landed at 9:30 AM. Flight PA417 was scheduled to arrive in Lahore at 9:20 AM.

On May 10, Batik Air Boeing 737-800 aircraft registration 9M-LDD arrived in Lahore at 1:21 AM as flight OD131 from Kuala Lumpur. The flight was scheduled to arrive in Lahore at 8:35 PM on May 9. Flight departure from Kuala Lumpur was delayed due to unavailability of immigration system at Lahore Airport at that time.
