For flight safety and to prevent and control bird strike incidents around Pakistan Air Force (PAF) Base Nur Khan - Chaklala in Rawalpindi, Rawalpindi Metropolitan Corporation (RMC) has been directed to confiscate domestic pigeons and their cages installed on rooftops in at least seven union councils of Rawalpindi.

In areas around PAF Base Nur Khan, such as Rawal Road, Band Khana Road, Amarpura, Glass Factory Road, and the old airport area, flights of aircraft flying to & from the airbase have seen disrupted due to birds and celebratory aerial gun firing.
