February 29 to March 1 rain/wind thunderstorm advisory issued by Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) for Karachi Airport.

Rain/Wind/Thunderstorm is expected in various districts of Sindh from February 29 to March 1, 2024

Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecasted that rain/wind/thunderstorm are expected in Karachi from February 29 to March 1, 2024.

Therefore all concerned authorities are advised to remain extra vigilant and take necessary actions to avoid any untoward situation.

Following precautionary measures are to be taken at Karachi Airport.

Mooring of parked light aircraft or re-parking to safe area as applicable.

Picketing of loose equipment or proper storage to avoid any collision.

During rain/wind/thunderstorm various kinds of insects/worms increase at the airfield that cause increased bird activity therefore airside inspector must ensure adequate number of bird shooters to be deployed at aerodrome and arrange fumigation spray where required.

Camp commandant should ensure that outside the fence area must be free from blockage during rain.

Airfield lighting party should ensure that outside the fence, area must be free from blockage during rain.

Airfield lighting party should ensure that electrical cable joints are proper, pits are covered and lights serviceable to avoid any incident/accident.

Mu-Meter party shall be ready to determine runway surface friction/breaking action during rain for ensuring safe aircraft operations.

Cleaning of all water drains/nullahs may be ensured especially behind international and domestic satellites for smooth flow of rain water.

Officer In Charge (OIC) Electronics should ensure that Radio Telephony (RT) antenna, dish and electronics cable joints are proper and serviceable.

Rescue and Fire Fighting Services (RFFS) should ensure the serviceability/availability of "Follow Me" vehicles and control speed to avoid any untoward situation.

Operational staff and facilities availability should be ensured.
