I am glad they are going to reconstruct this runway, we need the airports to exercise dual runway operations, but also this will allow traffic to flow easier once more airlines start to initiate services into Pakistan airports in the future.

Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has signed contract with Umer Jan for the reconstruction of Jinnah International Airport - Karachi Runway 07L/25R.
The reconstruction work is expected to begin in the third week of June 2024. The reconstructed and upgraded runway will be capable of handling flight operations of wide-body aircraft up to category 4F including Airbus A380.
The project also includes extending runway by 1,000 feet, reconstructing taxiways, taxiway links, overruns, and installing an energy-efficient LED CAT-I Airfield Lighting System.
The upgraded and reconstructed runway is expected to attract more domestic and international airlines flights to & from Jinnah International Airport - Karachi.
Instead of reconstructing 25R/07L, they should have opted to construct a new runway on right of the existing 25R/07L and changing this existing runway 25R/07L to be a parallel taxiway with high-speed exits
