Heavy equipment/machinery deployed on 'Taxiway A' due to runway reconstruction work. Aircraft landing on Runway 36L and taking off from Runway 18R may exercise caution. Day and night marking/lights remain displayed on machinery/equipment for the safety of aircraft.

Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has suspended a Senior Director/Project Director, Allama Iqbal International Air Port (AIIAP) - Lahore for displaying negligence and inefficiency in Lahore Airport Runway Reconstruction Project. He allowed grant of Extension of Time (EoT) to the contractor without the approval of the competent authority.

Yes there may be other factors involved, yet amazing that northern rwy (30R/12L) reconstruction at DXB, which involved similar work as being done at lahore, has been completed in exactly 45 days, while at lahore it has taken almost 2 years and still not complete. Started on 9 May, planned opening 22 Jun.

Reconstructed Main Runway 18L/36R of Lahore Airport expected to become available for flight operations after Eid al-Adha. A ceremony is being planned for the re-opening of runway.

* Runway 18L/36R civil works completed in April 2022.
* Runway 18L/36R electrification works completed in June 2022.
