Re: PIA Starting Flights Between Lahore and Sydney in April
PIA spokesperson Abdullah Hafeez on Friday said that the national carrier was upbeat on a positive response from Australia's Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) for allowing PIA to operate direct flights between Pakistan and Australia.
PIA spokesperson said that the airline was expecting a response by the end of March and if CASA allots slots then PIA could start its operations from April 22. PIA would be using its Boeing 777-200LR aircraft for Australia flights.

Re: PIA Starting Flights Between Lahore and Sydney in April
I think departure from Sydney is on Saturday, instead of Sunday, otherwise lay over would be of 30Hour in Sydney instead of 6 hours. Also, B-777 LR are pretty much occupied for PAK-YYZ routes, sparing one is kind of challenging. Other than that, Congratulations PIA to start this route, hope it will soon bump to at least 2x weekly to LHE.Abbas Ali wrote: ↑Sat Mar 12, 2022 2:32 pm PIA starting Lahore to Sydney weekly flight on April 1.

If they can sort out connections within Pakistan from the Lahore end, and sell tickets all around Pakistan through Lahore, this would be some what of an easier and pleasant experience (apart from the Lahore airport experience lol)

Great news but if they make it twice weekly than it will be more attractive for the passengers.

Isn't 777-300 ER capable to operate between Lahore and Sydney ? 777 LRs are much occupied on YYZ route.

PIA Boeing 777-200ER aircraft including AP-BMG and AP-BMH also have performed non-stop flights between Pakistan and Canada in the recent past.

Re: PIA Starting Flights Between Lahore and Sydney in April
I think all of the 777 Aircraft in PIA fleet can do non stop PAK-YYZ-PAK or PAK - SYD- PAK. Aircraft are not the issue, it's the crew, who don't want to operate long haul fights with out crew bunkers. Which only B777 LR have.Abbas Ali wrote: ↑Sun Mar 13, 2022 1:46 pm PIA Boeing 777-200ER aircraft including AP-BMG and AP-BMH also have performed non-stop flights between Pakistan and Canada in the recent past.

PIA still thinks that once a week is a good enough frequency for the 21st century

Actually, since the pandemic, more airlines are reducing their frequencies due to lesser demand. And in case there are daily flights the equipment is with lesser capacity.Pakistan-1 wrote: ↑Mon Mar 14, 2022 12:55 pm PIA still thinks that once a week is a good enough frequency for the 21st century

Re: PIA Starting Flights Between Lahore and Sydney in April
13 hours non-stop in a filthy old cabin without any IFE.
Please please think about upgrading the product.........these passengers will not be travelling for free. This is no baqra traffic.
Surely one would think about their aircrafts and passenger comfort before embarking on new route like this.
With the EU ban in place since 2021, I feel PIA had so much time to clean up their product in-house rather than thinking of outsourcing. They could have ripped out the old cabins, clean/wash or replace anything faulty since the aircrafts were grounded anyway. I understand IFE is costly to replace. But is it that costly to clean an old cabin? new seat covers/carpets/toilets etc???
When will PIA's senior management get their heads out of the sand?
