Rumours, Rumours and Rumours
A JFK flight is not good enough when we consider Pakistani disporse in Chicago, San Fransisco, Huoston and Washington DC even New Jersy ( EWR) but before that we need to raise our security levels and enhance our technological capabilities like Dubai or Qatar so we can start the JFK and other US destinations with all the requirements.
We would love to see PIA tails on B789s and A359s but Do we have any specific future plan apart from selling the stakes of Rosevelt hotel yet?
Make up things are doing pretty well in PIA now a days, good for positive image builing but not for Long lasting or Future benefits. PIA needs to step up the game by ordering new birds ( A321 LRs, A359s or B789s ) with new seating, IFEs , New J product so positive vibes will take place in the market. Need to update Food standards as well on EU and North american routes.

PIA says expects to resume direct flights to US from May
January 22, 2020
Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) expects to resume direct flights to the United States from May this year "subject to a final clearance by the US Transportation Security Administration", the national flag carrier's spokesperson Abdullah Hafeez told Dawn.com on Wednesday.
Hafeez said Pakistan had complied with all recommendations of the transport authority, such as using screening machines at major airports including Islamabad and Karachi.
He said negotiations between the US administration and the national airline had been underway for two years, adding that "from our end we have taken all measures that were advised". A delegation of the US transport authority is expected to issue a final clearance in May, he said.
He said PIA had already readied a flight plan according to which initially three flights a week will take off for New York, but the number will be increased with time.
According to the PIA official, the US transport security authority had conducted an audit of security arrangements of the PIA fleet and at the country's major airports. US homeland security had also visited Pakistan in this regard, he said.
Owing to security concerns, the US did not allow any direct flight that originated at a Pakistani airport into its airspace. In October 2017, the PIA had discontinued its flights to the US because of rising operational cost and in a bid to cut losses it had been facing.
Correction: An earlier version of this story incorrectly stated that final permission for flights to the US had been granted. However, a final review by the US transport authority is pending, and will take place in May, according to the PIA spokesperson. The error is regretted.

There is no chance, the DHS will give clearance to PIA. If there is any common sense within PIA. Fly to Toronto and code share to many US destinations!

If PIA had common sense it would be either transfer pax via YYZ. Sending via LHR isn't feasible due to slots etc. Though since Pakistan and Turkey have a good relationship, many Pakistani's visit Turkey. They should start daily flights to Istanbul, and transfer PAX with TK.
AC Flown: 717, 737, 747, 757, 767, 777, 787, A220, A319, A320, A321, A321, A330, A350, A380, CRJ200, CRJ500, CRJ700, CRJ900, Cessna 172, E145, E170, E175, E190, MD-11, and MD-80.

This is a much much better solution then to continue asking US authorities for direct flight permissions.ba260 wrote: ↑Wed Jan 22, 2020 8:06 pm If PIA had common sense it would be either transfer pax via YYZ. HUB Istanbul with daily flights from KHI, LHE and ISB and from there TK will take own wards passengers for Nortth America, South America and for Europe. --
PIA can continue operating flights for YYZ and for U.K.
Turkish Airlines destination list: Note how extensive TK presence in USA and in Europe.

Do you guys remember the deal PIA once had with TK, but it got destroyed by the unions and alike. If that deal came to fruition, PIA would've had a MUCH better outlook than it does today.ba260 wrote: ↑Wed Jan 22, 2020 8:06 pm If PIA had common sense it would be either transfer pax via YYZ. Three flights a week, probably one from Lahore, one from Karachi and one from Islamabad. He said PIA had already readied a flight plan according to which initially three flights a week will take off for New York, but the number will be increased with time.
How does that one flight a week compete with daily flight options with Emriates, Qatar, Etihad and Turkish.
PIA might have the shortest flight to New York City, but it will be the most painful one.

Non Stop flight from NY to Pak will be blessing. But to make it sucessfull it is critical to get new planes for this route otherwise with old equipment it won't be an attractive option for passengers.
PIA was going to get 787 but didn't get any update if they are still working to finalize this deal.

B777LR AP-BGY AP-BGZ & B77W AP-BHV BHW BID will fly to JFK nonstop but AP-BMS 77W and AP-BMH / AP-BMG need special licence / permission / permit to USA / Canada because of leased / hire / rent. You know AP-BMS & AP-BMG/H have crew rest bed bulk no issue no problem fly nonstop to YYZ and JFK but need get permission but you remember last time old ex-Chairman PIA 1999 stupid spent $4 million lawyer legal services for permission all 6 747-367 to USA also AP-BGN/0/P/Q/R/S not permit to USA / Canada. Make sure PIA if PIA get any lease / hire / rent 787 or A350 need to get permission / permit / approval to USA / Canada. but AP-BGJ/K/L/BHX weight take off 274,000kg cannot nonstop to JFK except from JFK to Pakistan yes okay but AP-BMG/BMH weight take off 297,000kg can fly nonstop to JFK.

surely it will be painful, though PIA need to fly from Islamabad (new hub) to NY and vice versa, NY bound pax from Lahore and Karachi to be feed with the connecting flights to Islamabad, this might be helpful in some wayAmaad Lone wrote: ↑Thu Jan 23, 2020 7:32 amThree flights a week, probably one from Lahore, one from Karachi and one from Islamabad. He said PIA had already readied a flight plan according to which initially three flights a week will take off for New York, but the number will be increased with time.

Making ISB as HUB will be viable for ISB and for LHE pax but not for KHI bound pax.
As better option for them to fly two hours towards DXB, this will not only shorten the distance of their own wards journey but also they will end up getting any of the three daily A380 flight to JFK with better product in same price versus the feeble product and service offer by PIA from ISB.

Re: PIA to Start Non-stop Flights for New York Soon - Aviation Minister
PIA can easily fill a daily 787-9 into New York City.
If PIA could fill 6 x weekly 747-300s in the 1999 than for sure PIA can fill a daily 787-9 in 2020.
Islamabad-New York 2 x weekly
Lahore-New York 3 x weekly
Karachi-New York 2 x weekly
Like before connecting with American or Delta out of JFK to other cities.
Introduce the premium economy in 2-3-2 layout, while club should be 1-2-1.
28/28/220 three class layout. 276 passengers in total.
PIA really needs to get over this 1980s strategy of three weekly flights one from Karachi, one from Lahore and one from Islamabad.
Overhaul PIA marketing, improve in flight product and people will flock to PIA.

Re: PIA to Start Non-stop Flights for New York Soon - Aviation Minister
With connections & transfers within PK how luggage will be handled? For JFK customers at least 2 x 23KGs would be given and between ISB-LHE an ATR can't provide that much capacity. Or it will simply ruin the luggage operations as it's very common between LHE-ISB that luggage is left behind or it comes via Truck.
If I am flying to JFK from LHE via ISB then how would I left my luggage behind? So they must consider all these aspects as well. Also on a320 sometimes they left luggage behind due to no capacity.
