Etihad Airways has five 777-237LR aircraft i storage.

These five 777LRs are ex Air India were made in 2008 and were bought by Etihad in 2014 and grounded in 2018.

Maybe PIA is planning to lease a couple of these 200LRs to restart flights to New York because with five weekly flights into Toronto I don't think PIA can use its own LRs for New York. Specially if PIA and Etihad Airways are planning a code share relationship on some routes might be that they are expanding their relationship and leasing some long range planes to PIA.

Unless it has found a way to squeeze extra hours on its 300ERs that can also fly to New York nonstop.

Either way it would have been perfect time to bring in three new 787-9 for North America allowing PIA to operate around 9 weekly flights between Toronto and New York.

I agree as this is the perfect time for PIA to place an order for B787-9 or A350-941 also then introduce these aircraft on European routes. Been watching a lot of VLog regarding PIA and also been a customer the most important thing is to have an updated IFE.
Hanian Airline have B787-9 stored with average age of 2 years and recently SAA also dry leased their 2 A350-900 for the JNB-JFK route.

You remember incorrectly. 37 is the Boeing code for Air India.

Yes they have been sold and stored in the US, but I don't think they have been broken up yet.

I guess they are joking by mentioning April on account of April's fool. I may be wrong.

With no new aircraft or refurbishments announced let alone completed, it’s difficult to believe that flights will be started in April. Incidentally, can the ER fleet perform JFK nonstop? I was under the impression that the LR fleet was dedicated to Toronto at the moment.

The CEO did mention flights to the USA were a priority but sounded more cautious.

If it’s true, PIA will file the route in the next couple of weeks. April is only about 10 weeks away and for a high profile route such as this, you would expect thorough preparations and marketing (not just on PIA’s social media)

High season example in May or June to August most passengers travel to USA for school holiday and summer holiday warm weather for peak that why PIA need flight to New York. if 777LR not enough then use 77W can fly nonstop no issue no problem for AP-BHV, W, BID & AP-BMS but AP-BMG, BMG & BMS have cockpit crew bed bulk & cabin crew bed bulk too.

Better PIA extends existing twice weekly ISB - KUL -ISB service -to- ISB -KUL -MELBOURNE - KUL- ISB to see how this new part of the world is doing for PIA.

Pakistani diaspora in Australia is picking up very fast, and PIA have less competition at Oceania. Also, unlike ME3 one advantage PIA have is that she don't have to "back track" flights while going towards Australia.
Fortune favours brave.

Is it not possible for PIA to perform Pak > Toronto > New York > Pak or vice versa, connecting both stations?
