According to Urdu daily 'Awaz' May 2 edition newspaper report, PIA crew performed twenty-two hours duty on chartered flights operated by the airline between Pakistan and Africa.

PIA spokesperson clarified that such flights performed by Airbus A320 included crew change in Jeddah.

Non-stop flights performed by Boeing 777 included two sets of cockpit crew i.e. two captains and two first officers. Flights were operated with up to sixteen all-male cabin crew. On regular commercial flights the aircraft usually carries eight to ten cabin crew members.

Cabin crew on voluntary basis opt to perform duty on these chartered flights and get PKR 10,000/- extra paid.

Pakistan CAA waiver is not required for chartered flight crew duty hours, said airline's spokesperson.
