BTW, AP-AUR must have been one of aircraft that became surplus in PIA fleet after separation of East Pakistan in December 1971. The surplus aircraft were either sold or leased out to various airlines. The aircraft sold included Twin Otters and aircraft leased out included Boeing 707s.

PIA also did not take delivery of a number of brand new F27s apparently for the same reason.

Couple of F.27-600s that PIA refused to accept after the break up of East Pakistan were later donated by the Dutch government to Bangladesh and Biman was started.

The two brand new Fokker F27 Friendship Mark 600 aircraft not taken up by PIA.


Seen here with Dutch pre-delivery registration PH-FPU. Was due to join PIA as AP-AWM. The aircraft sported registration S2-ABJ during its service with Biman.
