OPKC TWR needs to be around TWY D. Current TWR is abeam TWY B (Closer to RWY 07). THD RWY 25 hardly visible from TWR.

Beautifully designed ATC towers are landmarks of a number of international airports.

I hope Karachi also gets beautifully designed iconic ATC tower using combination of Sindhi and modern architecture.

Besides the obvious reasons what could be the rationale behind doubling the cost. A quick google search showed that in 2016 the cost of demolition, equipment, construction and installation of ATC at Charlotte, North Carolina, USA which handled 544,000 take offs and landing in 2015 costed US dollar 112 million. https://www.faa.gov/news/press_releases ... wsId=20415

If my maths is correct this is approximately what it will cost to build the ATC at Karachi airport, which certainly will not have no where close to half a million take offs and landings in a year.

According to news sources:

Decision has been made to construct international standard modern air traffic control (ATC) complex and fire station at Karachi Airport.

The existing ATC tower at Karachi Airport is fifty years old.

It has become difficult to monitor/control aircraft due to low height of existing ATC tower.

The new ATC tower will have height of more than 125 feet.

The new ATC tower will provide help in runway operations, aircraft parking & pushback.

The new ATC tower will be constructed in two to three years at a cost of fifty to seventy crore rupees.

Area radar centre will also be shifted to new ATC complex.

The new ATC complex will also include rescue and fire fighting station and offices.

Two or three year of construction time is pretty slow, for 125 FT height tower a year time frame is good enough.
