Project 707 [WIP]
Hey everybody,
I am working on my next 3D model. Its going to be a classic 707. I had a hard time nailing down the blueprints but have settled for a 707-300. I need help with a few questions:
1) how different is 300 model vs 340C (the one in Abbas Bhai's signature AP-AUN) Can I bend the rules and make it same? Its something to do with inner seatings is what I read, not sure how different it should be from outside.
2) The power plant on those things, what is the exact model? I need to know this since the details are not so good on the blueprint.
3) I have some texturing related questions too but I am not there yet. Primarily, whats the font called in those, anyone know the exact green pantone or RBG value, anyone got a good closeup of markings such as boeing logo, pia logo etc?

Re: Project 707 [WIP]
The Boeing 707-340C had main deck cargo door on port side of front fuselage that enabled operation of the aircraft in combi or all-passenger or all-cargo configuration. 'C' in aircraft designation means 'Convertible'.

Clary render up. Model is mostly there, i'll just be adding a few items here and there. Next step textures.

Shape should be same for pylons of engine nos. 2, 3 & 4 with inlet for turbo compressor. Engine no. 1 pylon was without inlet.

Thanks Abbas for pointing this error. I thought only engine 2 & 3 have this inlet. Keep guiding me for this issues if you find more.Abbas Ali wrote:Shape should be same for pylons of engine nos. 2, 3 & 4 with inlet for turbo compressor. Engine no. 1 pylon was without inlet.

Re: Project 707 [WIP]
Work on wings almost there. Ignore engines for now and wing edges.
I am undecided if there is enough chrome on it or it could use more. Two sides of the wings have different materials, which one works better?
Also at this stage could use some real help with getting the livery colors right for 60s theme. This one should come close to matching APAUN. There are a billion variations and color temperatures floating around, yet none official. The diecast model colors look too fake. Wahts the verdict?

Re: Project 707 [WIP]
Thanks for pointing that out. A lot of diecast models I have seen have the serial marking on wings for the 707 340 720 series. Is that wrong? Now that you say it should be PIA, I can kind of make out the letters on the picture there that I initially sourced.Abbas Ali wrote:Should be PIA on port side wing.

Re: Project 707 [WIP]
It was PIA on port wing and aircraft registration on starboard wing in those days.
Aircraft models often have small or big livery mistakes.

Re: Project 707 [WIP]
AP-AUN has come a long way. Feeling quite satisfied with this model and textures. Could use feedback if something looks out of the ordinary. Since this is a C variation, I was not sure where to place the cargo doors since I could only find the blueprint for 707-300 model. I might make them less obvious and blend them into the airframe more. Thank you Abbas for sharing your valuable feedback and insight into this.

Pakistan flag direction should be reversed on starboard side fuselage.
Number of stars should also be increased in the line below tail PIA logo.
Good work!

Re: Project 707 [WIP]
I thought about the flag but a backwards flag didn't make sense. I thought it was a mistake on their part to keep it backwards. I'll flip if that's how it is on most.
Regarding stars what's the number? Some have many others less. Official logo had that many as there are now on the model.

An actual flag will appear fluttering in that direction on starboard side of a flying / forward moving aircraft. That's why it's painted in that direction on starboard side.
