They had placed lights in those engine exhaust pipes and reddish light emanated through those red discs covering exhaust pipes at night making it look like an aircraft with working engines. Don't know whether arrangement of those lights continues to work or not.

Btw, here's PAF No. 23 "Talons" squadron patch. Apparently number 1610 was with No. 23 squardon during its last years of service.



Presently No. 23 squadron is equipped with F-7PG Skybolt.

Like everything else the standard of press photogrphy too has deteriorated. Look at this picture, which apparantly is by a professional (?) press photographer. One is at loss to distinguish the subject in the picture, is it the aircraft, the birds, trees or what? The photographer has not been intelligent in composing the shot.
