Large custom made model? Please help

Post by mohammed younis »

Hello Members

quite a while ago, a member posted a link to a website where they create airline models at a large scale,
they also made PIA models where you can choose the livery, I think they were made out of wood, not sure

does anyone remember this post?

Wood models are not good. Do not waste your money on them.

What scale are you after? If you are after scale 1/100 then i would recommend Westway Models in Uk, or Atlantic Models in USA.

In the future i will be getting more models made by Westway soon...

Expect to pay good money when you are asking for lights etc

Another model maker in the UK are conquest models.

But like i say expect to pay a few hundred pounds to these guys.

You may want to contact PacMin in USA to see if they could do you one. But i doubt it as Pacmin are mainly based on orders from the airlines.

Good luck

when i come around getting some made i will let you know If you are still interested.

I'll have something stunning to share with you all soon   \:D/

@ MY - i'll show you some pics in Jan/Feb 2011 and then let me know if you're interested. All in all wood models aren't too bad - a little less espensive then fiberglass/resin - but all in all not too bad. I have one and so far so good. Just figure out your budget and proceed from there. What type of aircraft/livery are you interested in?

Kind Regards

Mohammed younis, What scale models r you looking for, most relatively easily affordable models are 1/100 scale being resin or wood (Mahogany). If you are interested in larger then 1/100 scale more like 1/50 plus scales then a i can make them for you. If you are interested then let me know and well go from there. You can see my work at following threads:

Left main wing with engine and pylon plus both rear stabilizers were made for 1/25 scale cut-away B767-200 model.

viewtopic.php?f=19&t=17463

Building 1/12th scale Rc flying model of Concorde.

viewtopic.php?f=19&t=17179

there couple other large scale projects i have been working on in my own time, 1/12th C130 and 1/14th S Connie

Making larger scale display/static models is no problem but takes a lot time in making, it all depends on what you want detail wise and how much budget you have...

^That's the one I had commisioned from Atlantic Models in Miami, Florida. It's a fantastic model - very detail oriented. About $400.00 if i remember correctly.

One of my favorites!!

Off the topic - Samee do you still have any 1/100 Saudi models?

Thanks,

Yes i was offered to buy this, but not at the moment. InshAllah i will expand my PIA collection in the future.

Atlantic models are very similar to Pacmin in quality so i would recommend these to people who are interested in 1/100 scales.

I do not have any Saudi 1/100 models. But i can direct you to someone who has a Saudi PacMin. Email me samee380@aol.com and i will discuss the details with you

I don't think everyone can afford to go spending $400 to $500 on a single model, especially those living in Pakistan. Just the currency conversion will put them off. I'm working on something which should be much more affordable and accessible to those who cannot afford designer brands such as Pacmin, Space Models, Atlantic Models etc.
