Post by Abbas Ali »

PIA Engineering starts Third Line Of Defense (TLOD) Modification on customer aircraft

PIA Engineering has added another feather to its cap by finalizing the contract of the accomplishment of the Third Line Of Defense (TLOD) Modification on the Airbus A310 (registration TC-SGB) aircraft for M/S Saga Airlines which will be grounded for a C-Check and this modification from the 1st Jan 2007. This is a Mandatory Time Barred (MTB) Modification on all Airbus A310 aircraft, which ensures that the aircraft thrust reverser does not operate during flight. PIA has already successfully accomplished this modification on a number of aircraft on its own fleet and has now extended this support to its customers.

The EU restrictions come into action due to maintenance issues, there is not age factor involvement other wise Iran Air’s fleet would have been the first one to get banned and so many others too.

LOOK WHAT THEY HAVE DONE TO THEIR OWN FLEET. I think LINE MAINTENANCE should be outsourced since PIA Engineering has not fared any better than Fllight Ops., Airport Services, Corporate Planning, Quality Assurance, Marketing, Finance, waghhiara, waghhaira...

Which A310 is this one? the all white example which I saw parked in the hangar a few weeks back on the one with the partial Mahan Air tail.

PIA/MNG A300 in Trade Winds livery still parked at KHI.

Saga Airlines has two A310s (TC-SGB & TC-SGC) in its fleet. TC-SGC has been in continuous service with PIA since Hajj season. Now, that means the aircraft that underwent (TLOD) modification and C-Check at Karachi is TC-SGB.

TC-SGC has partial green Mahan Air tail while her sistership TC-SGB has all white tail and fuselage.
