PIA needs to get over its twice a week flight culture.

Its not convieniant for business passengers, plus poor utilization of both cockpit and cabin crew.

Thrice weekly should be minimum.

PIA should have reverted to the old schedule.

Lahore-Amsterdam-Frankfurt-Lahore 2 x weekly A310
Islamabad-Amsterdam-Frankfurt-Islamabad weekly A310

OR

Increase frequences to Istanbul, and operate:

Lahore-Istanbul-Frankfurt 2 x weekly A310
Islamabad-Istanbul-Frankfurt 1 x weekly A310

With millions of Turks living in Germany, PIA could could easily fill up the empty seats between Istanbul and Frankfurt.

Plus by using Istanbul as a layover for Amsterdam and Frankfurt PIA could have based the crew at Istanbul getting better utilization out of the crew.

One of the return flights terminates at KHI while outbound connection is not provided. Why can they not terminate it in ISB and fly the plane to KHI as a domestic flight?

That's a good news.PIA is back in the heart of europe.but the only problem is that online reservation is still not possible for Frankfurt from PIA website.Tha is major draw back.and all pakistani travel agent promote Gulf carriers in Germany more than PIA.They also offer free train travel within germany with airline tickets of EK.Kuwait ,Etihad and gulf airways.PIA should start online reservation for this sector.

y every flight is from LHE and ISB ?

at least one flight has to be from KHi.

ISB/s little airport is not suitable for the number of flights which are being operated to/from there.

I think it's because of success enjoyed by airlines like Emirates, Etihad Airways and Qatar Airways at Karachi Airport. Apparently good number of air travellers from Karachi take short hop flight to Dubai, Abu Dhabi or Doha and from there they travel to their desired destination.

PIA will have to devise some strategy to regain international passenger traffic which the airline has lost to these Arabian Gulf airlines at Karachi Airport .

PIA resumes flights to Frankfurt

Post by irfanjaffry »

We are informed here in Germany that PIA is going to resume flights from Frankfurt airport.
Read the details on the link (only in Urdu)
http://s4b.directupload.net/images/090329/x3xneihf.jpg
Checking the PIA's website, it looks like that the flight is not carried on to Karachi. I wonder why PIA is ignoring the fact that there is considerable traffic for Karachi also. Any European flight to Karachi via Dubai would be a hit (I think).
There are lot of businessmen travelling on KHI-DXB route and if the flight is routed to any European destination, I am sure PIA will be able to get enough passengers to fill their aircraft. Additionally, they can then compete the Arabian airlines who are running multiple daily flights on this route with almost full load.
I am not sure if this topic is already discussed in any other forum but would be nice if any body has any idea on this.

The reason why PIA ignores Karachi.

Due to open skies at Jinnah International Airport, Gulf carriers, such as Emirates, Qatar Airways, and Etihad Airways have dumped massive capacity at JIA, providing excellent connection of Europe, North America, Africa and Middle East.

PIA is not able to provide the Karachi based travelers with frequency that these Gulf carriers provide, therefore Karachities have stopped traveling on PIA.

How on earth can any PIA flight out of Dubai can be a hit?????

How will a twice weekly service to any city out of Dubai compete with Emirates that provides atleast a daily service to all of its destinations.

PIA could never attract any business passengers as the twice weekly services that PIA offers can never match the daily services of Emirates and Qatar, and business men need the flexibility to travel any day on a short notice. They do not have the time to wait for a flight four days later.

Very true ad. Only PIA flies just twice a weak to majority of its destinations including Frankfurt.

If someone pays attention to the fine print, its actually further down to once a weak from Lahore and Islamabad each.

PIA a scheduled airline with the schedule of a ferry service, Perhaps !
