EK, over 500,000 passengers on GLA-DXB

Post by GLA777 »

Emirates Airline’s Scottish service to Dubai has become the carrier’s fastest growing UK route by flying 500,000 passengers in just three years.

No other Emirates UK route has reached the milestone so quickly.

Laurie Berryman, Emirates Manager UK North and Scotland, said: "We have been delighted with the success of the Glasgow-Dubai route. No other Emirates UK route has ever performed so well in its first three years.

"We have received tremendous support from BAA and the Scottish Executive, and from Scottish travellers who have taken full advantage of the direct flight to the Middle East and to our onward destinations for both business and leisure purposes. It is especially pleasing that the third anniversary has coincided with the half-millionth passenger flying on the route."

Retired nurse Nancy Drummond from Stranraer became the half millionth passenger while on a two month trip to New Zealand and Australia with her husband Hugh. Mrs Drummond, a mother of four, was given an Emirates’ chauffeur drive to the Hilton Glasgow to join a celebration for invited guests. She was presented with a bottle of champagne, 10,000 Skywards Miles and a £100 airport shopping voucher.
