ISLAMABAD, Mar 21 (APP): Pakistan and Oman have agreed to increase the number of flights between the two countries.
A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to this effect was signed on Wednesday at Ministry of Defence (MoD).
Joint Secretary (Aviation), MoD, Shahid Ullah Baig, and Assistant Director General of Civil Aviation and Meteorology, Sultanate of Oman, Rashid Mohammed Hamed Al-Kiyumi signed the MoU on behalf of their respective countries.
Earlier, the two sides held extensive discussion aimed at increasing the existing traffic rights granted to the airlines of either side.
The talks were held in a cordial and friendly atmosphere which reflect the existing excellent relations between the two brotherly countries.
The talks successfully resulted in inking of a MoU, allowing the designated airlines of Oman to commence a combined 10 weekly frequencies to Peshawar, Lahore and Islamabad, 2600 weekly seats from Oman to Karachi and seven weekly frequencies from Muscat to Turbat.
The MoU further provides that the designated airlines of Pakistan can also commence a combined of 10 weekly frequencies from Peshawar, Lahore and Islamabad, 2600 weekly seats from Karachi to Oman and seven weekly frequencies from Turbat to Oman.
The agreed arrangements would tremendously contribute towards furtherance of our relations with Oman in the fields of aviation, trade, economy and people-to-people contact.
The Omani side was extremely satisfied to the agreed arrangements between the two countries.
