PIA should not be sold at all. While it may appear to be the sortcut out, IMO it will end us up in problems that will not only be bigger but we will not have any say or hold to correct them. I think Pakistanis all should combine their efforts to correct the politics/government. Not only it will solve most, if not all of Pakistan's problems, it may well be a better way to fix PIA alone than giving it away to someone who can choose to do whatever he wants for money. I am sure the politics will not end if PIA is sold, being the major career in the region, the only difference will be the pocket where the money goes and that it would then be legal. The Ministy of Defence will still be forcing its requirements on the airline and IMO its not so much about people of Pakistan who should own the airline, its about who the airline will serve. Unfortunately (or fortunately, I am not sure), any institution serves the entity that owns it.
I'd be interested in knowing if anyone voting for privitization (be it to Virgin or anyone else) has seen the documentary 'The Corporation'. That's a big part of why I am saying what I said.

Government should not be in the business of running a business.
Very few state owned airlines remain efficient and profitable.

Mega-carriers like Lufthansa, British Airways, Qantas, Iberia, TAP, all once state owned flag carriers have been privatized.

The problem in Pakistan is, privatization has been done in a non-transparent way, raising doubts about the real motive behind the move.

PIA should be privatized, that is the verdict, as 75% voting for non-government ownership.

Just because PIA will not be government owned, does not mean it will cease to be a Pakistani airline.

It will always remain the flag carrier of Pakistan.

Well I have to say this is a difference of opinion on which reasonable people can disagree with. I believe in the best of political climate, surely there is a better way than to sell it off. We have done it in the past in crisis more critical than this (1971).
And I can see how selling it off may actually bring rapid and positive change. One thing we all agree on, the staus quo cannot be maintained and something needs to be done RIGHT NOW!
Lets pray something is done very soon and whatever it is, may it turn out to be better for PIA, Pakistan, its employees and passengers. Ameen!!!

PIA is the property of the govt. of Pakistan, this must be maintained and the integrety of the airline restored by appointing responsible individuals.(Not those who go about loosing classified infomation and details)
Its easy to blame and to point fingers but its hard to take responsibility and to make a positive difference.

There is nothing wrong with PIA that cannot be fixed with whats right in it.

Long live PIA.

I don’t know why but I seriously want that PIA should remain owned by the government. Every organization/corporation has ups and downs in its life and this also is a fact that the present condition of PIA is worst but still I wish government should take necessary steps to take PIA out of this storm and its goes again to heights of success.

Just my opinion!

Why people on this forum get so fanatic and hysterical is beyond me, it's almost as if PIA's key decisions are made on this forum and the BIG CHEESE read this forum...

They don't.

So stop squabbling and just have sensible debates please.

Stick to facts without getting emotional.
You can't be all things to all people...so just be nice !
