[3d] A380 in Sohni Dherti

Post by SaadSaeed »

A week ago i had the urge to see how the A380 would look like in the 80s livery. Here is my take on it. Also updated the textures on the 747. Click to enbiggen. Constructive comments welcome on improvements to the model and livery.

Excellant Saadu, A380 looks nice in 80s livery. Now, you have to prepare the ground textures and terminal with air bridges and ground services which will make this image a speechless work in 3D. I have given you a very lenghty list for updates on this work....lol Good Luck!

Thanks ya'll. Samee i dont have high resolution textures of the new livery. I would love to apply punjab or sindh tail to these but just dont have 'em good enough. Maybe i can write someone at PIA and ask them nicely to send me better quality images of the tail. A380 should make them salivate a bit...

Raihan im getting there slowly. Im more into modeling than textures and yes it is equally important to improve the surrounding environment for better presentation.

Alas im reverting back to my old inexpensive hobby than buying real models. My wallet shrank to the size of paris hilton's stomach. Or should i say brain.

This is where they all live.

hahahah...very nice! The progress is Masha'Allah very positive and as I am viewing it will be converted soon into a very busy aerodrome! Anyhow, every next version of your worrk is having a lot of improvement than the previous version.

Regarding the Punjab /Sindh tail art work, I think you have to check with Umair Ayaz of FlightsimPakistan / VASIM as he already did the re-paints for POSKY 747s for FS and he will be having some good quality textures.

Samee i use a program called Cinema4D. You can download a demo and try it out. Its the easiest and best program out there in my opinion. Ive been using it for 4 yrs now. It may not give the best results right away but practice makes one perfect. That 747 model is a work of 3 years with about four revisions. Im thinking of making a tutorial and post it online on how i make my models. Im not sure when that will be as im already busy with these but to give you a quick rundown here is how i do it.
I first setup my blueprints for reference. You can find these at the mnfc website. (i have an aircraft identification booklet with tons of these ;))
Image

Then i put a series of circular shapes in line and loft them to give a general shape. Lofting is like laying bricks for a building. Instead of laying one brick, you lay down one whole level starting from base to top. In case of the aircraft, you put rings on a horizontal plane and align them to give the body its unique shape.
Image

Over the years i have learned that believability of any 3d image comes with proper lighting. HDRI is a solution for that. Google it and u'll know more.
Image

Next would be texturing but ive ran out of time for tonight.

Raihan, i know Umair paints the excellent FS textures but he is using photographs to recompose his textures. I make my own textures from start or use vectors. I'll PM him to see if he can share his originals if he has any.
