KARACHI: Chairman Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) Tariq Kirmani approved the Corporate Plan 2006 encompassing inter alia, targeted revenue of Rs76.059 billion for FY 2006 as compared to total revenue of Rs65.696 billion estimated for FY 2005 during the Board of Directors meeting.
The plan envisages a revenue growth of 16 per cent and enhancement of seat factor from 73.5 per cent in 2005 to 74.8 per cent in 2006.
The Board considered the Corporate Plan 2006, aligned with the approved Business Plan 2006 which envisaged the growth and expansion in the route network to meet the objective of overcoming the financial constraints arising from the exorbitant fuel prices.
The meeting also emphasised the need to develop and improve the image and service standards to make PIA world class and customer centered airline.
During the meeting, the Board was informed of a series of business strategies and tactical steps to improve its revenues due to volatile fuel market. It was also informed that the planning will now envisage the business plan for five years and a one year plan which would be updated periodically.
It was further reviewed that PIA had become one of the first 50 airlines to get IOSA certification, a prerequisite of IATA Regulation, and would be provided a basis of code sharing agreements with renowned airlines.
