Asslam ualikum
Are PIA pilots flying them or pilots of these airlines??
What is the cause that both PIA and Saudia every year lease planes from these old Turkish airlines???
Before 2 years when I went to Hajj, The A300 from Madinah to Jeddah was lease plane from Ouner Air with crew ... It was in very bad condition and noisy???

I guess the first Hadj flight from Peshawar was an A310-300 carrying 270 passengers.
How the hell did they fit an extra 80 passengers in that aircraft.
The distance between the rows must have been brought down to a minimum possible.
I remember flying on AP-AYW , which had the Hadj layout for domestic flights, and it was uncomfortable.
From 192 to 270, feel sorry for the passengers who have to fly cramped up for five hours.

The A310-300s have nearly been removed from the entire domestic flight schedule.
The MNG 737-400s have replaced the A310s, which in return are being operated on Hadj flights.
I guess leasing MNG A300-B4s would have caused a huge scandal, considering we have similar airworthy aircraft grounded for no reason.

Re: MNG aircrafts parked at Karachi Airport
PK are wet leasing five B737-400s from MNG for the Hajj season. Believe two MNG A300s for freight have been on wet lease (charter basis twice per week) for quite somtime now.kalc wrote:Hi I have seen at least 3 Mng aircrafts parked at Karachi airport

Interesting fact is that MNG & two other Turkish companies bought PK's A300B4 fleet as part of a strange deal which stipulated that PK will lease aircraft from MNG when required. The sold A300s are still parked at PK/KHI facilities!
PK additionally are wet leasing five B747-200 of which three are from Air Universal & two from Orient Thai. Same two sources had leased B747s during last Hajj. Some Air Universal planes have been operating with PK since August 2005. Guess at approx $5500 per hour with guaranteed 250 hrs per aircraft per month, for at least 4 months, it makes sense why wet leasing is the preferred modis operandi.
Cheers !
