Islamabad Airport Runway Likely to Become Slippery in Wet Conditions Due to Rubber Deposits

Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) issued:

From May 18 to May 28

Due to aircraft tyre rubber deposits, Islamabad Airport Runway 10R/28L is liable to be slippery when wet. Pilots advised to exercise caution while landing/takeoff.

Why just a NOTAM.

CAA should or it probably will take the necessary measure to remove the rubber deposits from the runway. Assuming it can also lead to an untoward incident (less friction etc) when a plane of any size especially the big ones touch down and slow down.

Yes. Rubber deposit removal is carried out each year but looks like this year, the initiative wasn't taken in time.

Why not to switch operations to southerm rwy and clean the rwy rubber alternately!.

From July 4 to July 5, between 0600 hours to 0900 hours & 1100 hours to 1500 hours, Islamabad International Airport main Runway 10R/28L will not be available due to rubber deposit removal work in progress.

Secondary Runway 10L/28R will be available during closure of main Runway 10R/28L. Pilots advised to exercise caution.
