FIA Staff at Karachi Airport Prevents a Man from Using Fake Boarding Pass to Board PIA Flight to Toronto

Today (January 8), Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) staff at Karachi Airport arrested a man attempting to board Toronto-bound PIA flight PK783 by using fake boarding pass and without going through immigration process. The boarding pass also had fake FIA exit stamp. The detained man has been handed over to FIA Anti-Human Trafficking Circle, Karachi, for interrogation.



On January 8, PIA Boeing 777-200LR registration AP-BGY left Karachi at 4:32 AM as flight PK783 to Toronto. The flight was scheduled to depart at 4:10 AM.

FIA staff should be appreciated here, but how weak the system in Pakistan is that, An Afghani, most likely illegal able to secure Pakistani passport, and didn't bought ticket and almost make it to the flight.

If he was able to board the Aircraft, Only long haul route of PIA i.e YYZ operation got another bad impression.

Most likely, he went thru proper screening and at last minute someone exposed him. I don't believe fake Boarding pass with fake FIA stamp. Most likely, Immigration and checkin records were, perhaps, purged to save skins of those innocents invovlved. Probably, some anti-PIA elements are involved and something big has been averted.

How, an Afghani obtained Canada study permit from Canadian Embassy with a fake Pakistani passport? The racket is definitey much larger.

Many genuine cases get their visit visas rejected by Canadians on flimsy grounds, unless they apply thru a Gora attorney after paying hefty fees of $10,000-20,000 range. My own next of kin, temp/visit visas for US/Canada on mulltipe occasions were rejected when applied on medical grounds while my spouse was in ICU for over a month and/or expecting new borns in US and Canada.

PIA 777-300ER also had overhead crew beds, why those are not used for YYZ? They were used JFK-PAK direction non-stop.

PIA B-777-300 ER don't have crew bunkers. Only two LRS have.

AP-BMG and AP-BMH also have crew bunkers. Both aircrafts have flown to Toronto before.

Good step but it is not enough. The PIA checkin clerk who printed a fake boarding card must be nabbed as well. Canadian Embassy officials involved must be nabbed. If Canadian officials involved are credentialed diplomats, they must be repatriated back to their Govt in Ottawa. Passport and NADRA officials who issued him Passport and CNIC must be arrested as well. Unless whole gang is nabbed, arresting only two low level Passport control desk FIA clerks is meaningless.

A fake boarding pass should straightaway be detected during final scanning at the gate before boarding. But i have found the procedures are not consistent, sometime they scan (electronically) the board passes, often they don't. Once waiting for my flight at JInnah terminal, I saw the lady PIA staff collected all the tear off counterfoils from the boarding passes, and once all passengers had boarding she started scanning the cards afterwards.
