Re: PIA Paying USD 600,000 Per Month for Two Airbus A320s Parked in Jakarta
Aircraft parking fee for two Airbus A320 (AP-BLY & AP-BLZ) aircraft of PIA in Jakarta has exceeded $15 million.
The airport parking fee is $0.6 million a month and the 26-month parking fee of the aircraft has reached $15.4 million.
According to the report, the two A320s have been parked at Jakarta Airport due to a dispute between PIA and aircraft leasing company.
The auditor termed the matter ‘management’s negligence’.
PIA spokesperson said that the matter has been resolved with the leasing company and the aircraft will return to Pakistan soon.

15.4 million USD is approximately 5 billion PKR. This is a huge and serious amount to be paid just for the parking fee and there is no way this amount can be earned back or recovered. CEO and his staff need to be terminated for this gross negligence. -- No exception!Abbas Ali wrote: Sun Dec 03, 2023 4:03 pm The aircraft parking fee for two Airbus A320 (AP-BLY & AP-BLZ) aircraft of PIA in Jakarta has exceeded $15 million.

“PIA has acquired these aircraft, which were earlier sent to Jakarta for return to the leasing company, AirAsia, upon the completion of a six-year lease,” PIA spokesman Abdullah Khan told Arab News.
“The lessor agreed to PIA's proposal of buying out these aircraft at the price of $26 million.”
PIA made a payment of $13 million last week, the spokesman said, after which one aircraft was released and flying to Pakistan today, Tuesday.
“One aircraft will land at Karachi airport today at 11:00 PM while the second one will be acquired after paying the remaining $13 million within the next couple of weeks,” Khan added.

How much money was paid to Jakarta airport for parking fees?? Was it really 600,000 dollars a month for over two years???
Plus grounded for two years have they had the checks done for which the planes flew to Jakarta??
Are these aircraft airworthy to return to operations for PIA or will they be scrapped for parts?

Someone posted the poctures of aircraft after return. Why it’s all white and no more PIA branding?

^ AP-BLZ had arrived in Jakarta in September 2021 to be prepared for re-delivery to the aircraft leasing company and apparently that's why it was painted all-white.

Clearly, PIA is forced to buy the aircrafts because the lessor won't find any other buyer for 17 year old aircrafts. Had PIA managed the situation properly, there would've been no need to buy these ageing aircrafts. Hopefully both aircrafts at least remain operational, join the fleet asap and aren't cannibalised.
