Pretty humiliating to see this: Where CEO is hiding, unable to see his role at this time of testing.
Any way: To reduce the insult:
PIA should immediately dispatched another B-777 from her own fleet to bring back stranded passengers instead of adjusting them on ME3 carriers.
PIA should return these two B-777, leased by the same company Aercap, i think expiry of six years lease is just couple of months away.

A real blessing in disguise for the passengers, they got to experience real good service with Emirates and Qatar.ammad wrote: Sat Jan 16, 2021 1:14 am PIA should immediately dispatched another B-777 from her own fleet to bring back stranded passengers instead of adjusting them on ME3 carriers.
How a lease negotiation could result in this is shocking. PIA doing all it can to improve (NOT!) Its image!

^Travelling via ME3 is not the point. Point it that PIA should very least work on mitigating the damage by sending her own Rescue Aircraft **right away** to show some sort of responsibility towards passenger handling.

Re: PIA Boeing 777 Impounded by Malaysian Authorities in Kuala Lumpur
Its shameful and disgusting that PIA aircraft impounded at a foreign airport.
CEO should be KICKED OUT for such poor performance, is he asleep as courts are giving verdicts against PIA.
PIA should have returned these two planes back in June.
PIA own 1 777LR, 1 777-300ER and 1 777-200ER are grounded for months.
With no flights to Europe and UK there was no justification to keep these two leased planes in the fleet.
Poor performance by the management.

Totally agreed. My comment was tongue in cheek.ammad wrote: Sat Jan 16, 2021 7:45 am ^Travelling via ME3 is not the point. PIA has never been one for good passenger handling and this case was no exception.

According to Aviation Minister Ghulam Sarwar Khan, PIA was unable to make aircraft lease payment on time due to COVID-19 pandemic that has affected the airline financially.

Newspaper blooper:
Urdu daily "Nawa-i-Waqt" January 16 edition showing PIA Boeing 737-300 registration AP-BEH as the aircraft impounded in Malaysia.
Actually, the photo shows AP-BEH after it was forced to land in Indonesia in March 2011. The chartered PIA B737 flight with Pakistani UN Peacekeeping Force flying from Dili, East Timor, to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, was using Indonesian airspace without proper permission/clearance from Indonesian authorities.

According to PIA spokesperson, the airline's dispute with aircraft leasing company is over aircraft maintenance charges not lease payment.
PIA was holding talks with the leasing company for reduced maintenance charges due to low utilization of the aircraft during COVID-19 pandemic.

Re: PIA Boeing 777 Impounded by Malaysian Authorities in Kuala Lumpur

A passenger of cancelled PIA flight PK895 who arrived in Islamabad aboard Emirates flight EK614 from Dubai told SAMAA News channel:
* PIA staff at Kuala Lumpur Airport initially told passengers that the aircraft is unable to depart due to some technical reason. Later, passengers found out about impounding of the aircraft through social media/Facebook.
* The passenger says that at Kuala Lumpur Airport they were looked after by Pakistan High Commission officials.
* The passenger claims PIA did not offer support when they arrived in Dubai. A PIA official at Dubai airport told passengers that they are now Emirates' passengers.

Its like any dirty planning and tricks PIA play against other carriers, they get a hard slap across the face for it. And you wonder why we were all against this airline complaining against Virgin Atlantic starting services to Pakistan.
