EASA Suspends PIA Europe Flights

Under Brexit withdrawal agreement, UK is still part of EASA until 31st Dec 2020.

EASA rules apply in UK as well until that time.

Following EASA decision, British aviation authority also has announced suspension of PIA flights to & from UK.

If this isn’t a wake up call for PIA then this is the end. It’s about time the whole set up is bought down from the top to bottom and restarted. It’s possible but will cost money but at least we know you will ha e pilots that are qualified to the highest standards. Our planes also need to be upgraded on my last flight on one of the 777’s, well I’ll leave it at that.
New management preferably someone experienced with a successful record and not scared to put the airline first and hold people accountable. Let’s hope this is the beginning of a fresh start and PIA can go back to being one of the worlds best airlines again.

UK is still having European rules and regulations applied till 31/12/2020 therefore included in the ban

A spokesperson for the UK Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) said: “PIA flights from Birmingham, London Heathrow and Manchester airports are suspended with immediate effect.

“The CAA is required under law to withdraw PIA’s permit to operate to the UK pending Easa’s restoration of their approval that it meets international air safety standards.”

According to GEO, PIA have permission to overfly EU airspace until July 3rd

According to Express News:

Pakistan's foreign secretary contacted European countries' ambassadors on the issue. PIA allowed to operate flights to/from UK/Europe till July 3.

Pakistan Foreign Office, Pakistani ambassadors in Europe and PIA officials are in touch with European officials.

PIA Islamabad to London flight PK785 & London to Islamabad flight PK786 to be operated according to schedule on July 1.

More flights to be announced soon.

It is tough time but PIA can emerge from this Crisis.

Minus UK, Europe market is already lost by PIA. Only thing to worry about is the loss of revenue from UK market.

To control the damage. PIA should work with extensive agreement with Turkish, ask them to lift all European passengers from Europe to Istanbul and funnel them to Pakistan via TK and PK.

This will be survival mode for PIA for next six months. Meanwhile they should work on fixing license issues.

According to Aaj News:

PIA also allowed to operate relief flights within next four days to repatriate stranded Pakistanis from Oslo, Milan and Paris.
