If we ever see an A380 in Pakistan I am sure it won't be at Gwadar.

Re: New Gwadar International Airport Project
Indeed. And it'll be waste of resources spending on making it capable. I know it's nice to future proof but it won't see a380 even in 10 years. Cargo a380 are not made yet. Most it'll see is a330 cargo, not even 777.zainman88 wrote:If we ever see an A380 in Pakistan I am sure it won't be at Gwadar.
Would be better spent on karachi airport as it may see an a380. Right now emirates has 6 flights a day so it'll be happy doing ³-4 instead. But I wonder if it will be economical vs 777.

Re: New Gwadar International Airport Project
I think they are making Gwadar Airport runway capable of handling flights of big freighter aircraft like An-125 and An-225 for development projects in Gwadar and adjacent areas.
Such runway will also be capable of handling A380 flights - most like emergency diversions.

Re: New Gwadar International Airport Project
Even after charging a terribly high tax amount on every ticket the greedy beggars in GOP and CAA continue to wag in front of China to do the needful they should also be held accountable and dealt according to the Chinese law for corruption.
China should bring in their own contractor, sources to build this airport else its another isb in the making. Hope they won't let their money go to waste.

Re: New Gwadar International Airport Project
According to following news report, new Gwadar International Airport will have Open Skies policy. The news report claims that airport's construction work will be completed in October.
Sometime ago I heard or read that airport construction work has not started or is delayed/slow due to delay in release of grants by the Chinese.
Completion of construction work in October I think will be a surprise.
I haven't seen any footage or photos of airport construction work progress on any news channel so far.

Gwadar airport to be completed in October
By APP / News Desk Published: February 22, 2017
ISLAMABAD: Construction work on the Gwadar International Airport costing Rs22 billion would be completed in October, announced Balochistan Chief Secretary Saifullah Chatta.
Talking to Radio Pakistan, he said the Gwadar airport would cater to the needs of the Gwadar deep-sea port as it would become the prime venue of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). CPEC has also increased passenger traffic in the area.
“It will be the largest airport in Balochistan that will facilitate domestic and international passengers with facilities of international standards,” he added.
Gwadar airport to cost $260m
The airport will be capable of playing host to the largest passenger planes in the world including the Airbus A380 jet.
For this purpose, the Civil Aviation Authority has allocated 3,000 acres of land. The airport will be given international status and operate under the open skies policy.
Earlier, during CPEC’s Joint Cooperation Committee (JCC) meeting held in Beijing, some participants expressed concern over the slow pace of progress on the Eastbay Expressway of the Gwadar Port and the Gwadar International Airport.
