Why aren't there are airbridges at all?
Gwader is getting a couple of ATR flights a day.

ATR does not need an air bridge.

Wasn't the new airport going to "revolutionize" Gwadar and bring in larger aircraft and new destinations and airlines into the region or was that just my assumption?

Gwader is going to be a port for Chinese exports and imports.

How that will increase traffic I dont know.

Maybe go up from a couple of ATRs a day to couple of A320s a day.

New Gwadar Airport

Post by speedbird london »

Salaam, Hi,

Searching online any updates for the opening of Gwadar Airport, but nothing but Sep 2023.
There’s no photos of what the interior of building status is. Appreciate many topics here in past, but it’s seems to died of death.

Will it open in Sep , this month, or further delays.
Also any insight into flight network into the new airport. Will it be served direct flights from LHE?

Whole project seems quiet on social media.

Any updates or links (recent) would be appreciated.

New Gwadar International Airport now expected to become operational by March 2024 due to delay in the arrival of some equipment from China.

The equipment is due to arrive in Gwadar by sea from China this month.

I suppose it might increase traffic from China because of their workers coming to Gwadar. So it might be to cater to Chinese demand in the future.

MoU Signed to Electrify New Gwadar International Airport

Image

Under a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority (PCAA) and Quetta Electric Supply Company (QESCO), 12 MegaWatts (MW) of electricity will be provided to new Gwadar International Airport by October 17, fulfilling its 24-hour electricity needs without interruption.

To ensure uninterrupted electricity, 12 MW of electricity will be available to to the new Gwadar International Airport around the clock through three transmission lines. It means if one line fails, the second will automatically connect, and if that goes down, the third will serve as a backup.

One supply is coming from the 286 km long 132kV dual-circuit line through Naal-Basima-Naag-Panjgur. The second is from the Mund-Pishin-Turbat line to the Gwadar grid station. The third is from the Gabd-Remden line to the Jiwini-Gwadar grid station.

If you look very closely at the image of the airport, you can see where the airbridge is supposed to attach.
