Sad state of these 777s.
Btw, PIA invited a bid to acquire GE-90 engines. What is it for bringing back these 777s or keeping the existing ones operational?

On May 1, 2023, PIA ATR 72-500 aircraft registration AP-BKX returned to the skies when it apparently performed a test flight to & from Karachi Airport.

AP-BKX was on the ground at Karachi Airport since August 2022.

Five or six years ago one of the 777-300ER either BHV or BHW had remained grounded for a long time and a lot of money was spent to revive and bring the aircraft back to service. I wonder how much money was spent and obviously it was wasted because a just a couple of years later the aircraft is grounded and I think this time gone for good.

The market value of a 2007 built 777-300ER is around 40 million dollars.

I wonder what would be the repair cost PIA grounded AP-BHW.

The lease rate of a similar 777-300ER is aound 350,000 dollar a month.

Pretty sure that just procuring the engines would cost a lot more than that. No wonder PIA invited bids for 'leasing' the engines.

AP-BLT is permanently grounded and won't fly again, but where is it? BGL, BHW and BID are all seen in their preserved / cannibalised form, but where is BLT? It isn't in the main ispahani hangar for sure. Any pics of BLT?

I had impression that AP-BGL was the one in better shape compared to other 772ERs (since it was used back in the days for VIP flights too). What happened that it has been grounded for so long?

I also think there is less interest to bring BHW, BID back to life primarily due to EU ban.
