Also don't understand why does it take so long to solve these legal matters after the induction of the aircrafts. The process is quite slow.
Very very unfortunately it is being cannibalised. Daily they take out some components of BMY to get keep the other 320s running. Can’t see it getting operational anytime soon.

I just don't see any truth in that. Firstly, it is a newly inducted aircraft and i don't see PIA already cannibalising it. Secondly, had PIA planned to do something like this, they would have done that at KHI not ISB. Yes there are facilities at ISB but these types of works are usually done at KHI's facilities. No a320 has been 'grounded' or has been taken out of operation while at ground in ISB if you look at the records. Most a320s which visit ISB perform regular flights and while on ground are waiting for the turn around or fly the next day while resting at remote bay. Which means that it isn't possible to use parts of BMY in other aircrafts during turn around time. All the currently grounded a320s are at KHI.

They are probably doing some maintenance checks i belive or are preparing the aircraft and then fly it to KHI where final work will be done. Or its probably the technical procedures taking to long. When AP-BON was inducted, it too spend a lot of time on ground at ISB and then eventually it to started operating.
FCU taken out on 11th Jan for another 320. Left main landing gear tyres taken out for AP-BOM. If that isn’t considered cannibalising an aircraft then idk what is. Need some more info?

^and just for your information if the word ‘Planning’ was anywhere in the dictionary of PIA, yesterday’s PK 305 wouldn’t have been delayed by 10 hours on account of unavailability of Captain in Lahore which is a crew base.

Today, PIA Boeing 777-200ER registration AP-BGK returned to service when it left Karachi at 7:14 AM as flight PK300 to Islamabad.

The aircraft was on the ground at Karachi Airport since late July 2022 for heavy maintenance checks performed by PIA Engineering.

Another PIA Boeing 777 to become operational within next few weeks, says PIA spokesperson. Apparently, it's PIA Boeing 777-300ER registration AP-BID.

Time line given by PIA is always shaky, If they are saying few weeks it means at least a month or two. So it will be ready by first week of March.

I remember the time time when AP-BID, the last B-777 arrived from the Boeing factory to the PIA as a new Aircraft, it was in March 2008. 15 years have been passed since then and this particular Aircraft was the most misused Aircraft mostly used to donate parts to help keep other B-777 continue flying.

This bad practice of sporadic procurement should seize to exists.

10 777s are more than enough for where PIA is flying now. PIA should now focus on refurbishment of these aircrafts.

It's unfair to compare PIA and AirIndia in the first place.....
Let's say PIA makes 12 777s operational, where do you expect them to fly? Most probably JED or MED right? Maybe few flights to KUL and IST, that's about it.

Why not focus on getting the ban lifted first or improving the product on the existing operational 777s?.

It's for the idea where things are heading and we think 10 B777 are enough for country of 220 Million with strong diaspora of more than 5% of population. i.e. 11million Pakistanis are overseas and national carrier is in dilapidated condition pretty much says many things.

Regarding the questions where they can fly, Even the cities mention above can sustain direct daily flights from KHI, LHE, ISB, and 10- B777 can't even handle these combination.

Once the UK station is back ISB, LHE can easily handle daily flight to Manchester.

Also, note that PIA have worst Aircraft utilization time in the industry which is less than 10 hours a day on average when Aircraft is airborne. Industry average is approx. 11.5 hours, EK is at 14 hours. Meaning PIA is utilizing each Aircraft 33% less time what EK is doing on a given day, just for an idea.

Very interesting stat. I believe the crew shortages are hurting them there? Hence the petition in Supreme court to allow them to hire more people?
